I'm a shuttle driver for a hotel near the DFW airport, and in the last year a building program of making new toll plazas on the north and south end has taken place and part of this program has been to build very narrow concrete barriers to enter and exit the DFW airport. The concrete barrier lanes, makes one feel one is entering or leaving a fortress compound, such as the Berlin Wall. There is only one wide lane for 22 passenger hotel shuttles or semi's, and this lane is not toll tag only meaning that any car may go...

Driving down to Austin lately has become a real trip. I-35 is usually packed for most of the 185 miles, and what used to take three or four hours now can take five or six. Flying down can take almost as long, when you figure in airline security delays, more flight delays, and the time it takes getting into and out of crowded airports. But what if it took 45 minutes to travel from the Metroplex to Austin by train or an hour to make a trip to Houston? Advocates of high-speed rail lines are floating these ideas once again...

WASHINGTON – With the push to overturn flight restrictions at Dallas Love Field heating up, a schism has emerged among North Texas lawmakers. Three of the region's eight House members – all from the Dallas side – say it's time to loosen or scrap the 25-year-old Wright amendment. "I think it's outlived its usefulness," Rep. Sam Johnson, R-Plano, said Thursday. "That doesn't mean it's going to get repealed this year." The willingness of Dallas-area lawmakers to openly side with Southwest Airlines Co. against American Airlines Inc. represents a fresh threat to American and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Both have been...
