    A teen who joined the U.S. Marines claims he was fired from his job as a sacker at the Food King store in Texas City because he missed work as he was sworn in as a recruit. Joshua Perthius, 18, claimed the store’s manager already had threatened to fire him if he missed work because of his recruit activities.     At 17, Leo Valle was dazzled by the money and other perks that came with service in the National Guard. So in March, the South St. Paul resident signed up to join. He soon had second thoughts. Valle's parents, who had given their written consent, didn't want him to go. His girlfriend was against it, too.
