Two people are dead and at least 35 others were affected after a chemical leak involving hydrogen sulfide occurred at a PEMEX facility in Deer Park, officials said on Thursday. The extent of injuries is unknown due to officials not being able to make entry into the affected unit, officials said. Deer Park Mayor Jerry Mouton gave reassurance to community members that there was not a chemical leak in the surrounding area, despite the smell of hydrogen sulfide seeping out into the air. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the scene remains preliminary and fluid, but noted the "situation seems...

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Union workers were on strike for a second day on Monday at nine U.S. refineries and chemical plants as they sought a new national contract with oil companies covering laborers at 63 plants. The walkouts were the first in support of a nationwide pact since 1980 and targeted plants with a combined 10 percent of U.S. refining capacity. One of the plants, Tesoro Corp's (TSO.N) 166,000-barrel-per-day Martinez, California, refinery, was being shut because it was in the midst of planned maintenance work. The other refineries appeared set to continue running normally as operators initiated contingency plans, calling...

Cold, windy weather didn't stop around 300 from showing their support for our USA troops here in Deer Park, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati.. Many people were seen crying and most were misty eyed as some carried photos of their loved ones who are in harms way. This photo was taken after event, and his name is Rick Royalty, and he said his grandfather fought in WWI, his father in WWII, and he fought in Viet Nam.
