WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court agreed Friday to take up an issue that could change a key element of the system America uses to elect its president, with a decision likely in the spring just as the campaign heats up. The answer to the question could be a decisive one: Are the electors who cast the actual Electoral College ballots for president and vice president required to follow the results of the popular vote in their states? Or are they free to vote as they wish? A decision that they are free agents could give a single elector, or a...

A federal appeals court ruled late Tuesday that presidential electors who cast the actual ballots for president and vice president are free to vote as they wish and cannot be required to follow the results of the popular vote in their states. The decision could give a single elector the power to decide the outcome of a presidential election — if the popular vote results in an apparent Electoral College tie. "This issue could be a ticking time bomb in our divided politics. It's not hard to imagine how a single faithless elector, voting differently than his or her state...

DALLAS -- The Republican elector who has gotten national attention for refusing to vote for Donald Trump at the Electoral College on Dec. 19 was apparently not a first responder on September 11, 2001 as he has stated for years and has a questionable career history, according to an investigation by WFAA. Chris Suprun, 42, portrays himself as a heroic firefighter who was among the first on the scene after the third plane flew into the Pentagon on 9/11. In a heavily-publicized editorial this month for the New York Times, Suprun stated that as a member of the Electoral College...

A Republican elector from Texas on Monday defended his plan to vote against President-elect Trump today, and it's time for others to follow in an effort to deny Trump the White House. "This is, unfortunately, the first time I think we've needed to use it as a nation, but it's time to pull the brake," Christopher Suprun said on CNN.

Anti-Trump faithless elector Stephen “Chris” Suprun was expelled from a Texas police academy about six years ago for plagiarism, according to an anonymous source who attended classes with him. The GotNews crack research team previously revealed that Suprun runs a fishy 9/11 charity and paid for cheating website Ashley Madison’s “affair guarantee” while bankrupt, likely unemployed, and married with 3 young kids — while his wife worked a full-time job. We also revealed inconsistencies in his 9/11 story, a thread that was picked up by Texas local news after we investigated, and went viral. The source told GotNews that they...

Harvard Professor Lawrence Lessig, who has offered free legal advice to electors, said this week that 20 Republican electors are considering not voting for Trump. ... But the Republican National Committee, which according to Politico has been keeping tabs on its electors, has found no defectors except for Christopher Suprun, a Texas elector who has publicly announced his intention not to support Trump. ... there's little evidence that these entreaties might result in the kind of large-scale coordination that would be required to deny Trump the presidency.

Ever since President-elect Donald Trump soundly defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, several electors in the Electoral College have threatened to vote against the will of the people in their state to against both Trump and Hillary Clinton. One group of electors who are supposed to vote for Hillary Clinton experienced a major setback in court and one judge has reminded them that they can be replaced.

Some in Washington and others on social media are speculating that President-elect Trump is on the cusp of a tidal wave of "faithless electors" defecting from their pledges. The notion is provocative, titillating — and has no root in reality and is nothing new. Anti-Trump forces are advancing efforts to invalidate his election in the only venue that matters: the Electoral College. The electors of the Electoral College — the people who actually choose the next president — will gather on Dec. 19 to make their choices; choices that are supposed to represent the will of the voters of the...

Two Electors from Colorado have gone to court in order to be faithless to Hillary and the Democratic Party. Even though Colorado was declared for Hillary, these electors have stated that they will be faithless. My question for you Democrats is whether this is OK with you? And in the Future when a Democrat has won the electoral college, will it be OK for faithless electors to install a Republican President then? These Electors failed in court. How will the Democrats feel in Colorado with their votes not represented in Washington?

Anti-Trump Texas faithless elector Stephen Christopher “Chris” Suprun, who wrote a widely-shared op-ed in The New York Times about his decision, joined and paid for cheating website Ashley Madison in 2012, using the same address registered to his 9/11 charity, while bankrupt, likely unemployed, and married with three young kids, after he and his working wife owed over $200,000 to multiple creditors — and that’s just the start of it. GotNews’ research into Suprun’s bizarre and unexplained flip-flop against President-elect Donald J. Trump turned up Ashley Madison data, damning bankruptcy records, and a series of P.O. boxes and what appears...
