I love Wikipedia. I donated thousands of dollars to the Wikimedia Foundation. Before Wikipedia, all we had were printed encyclopedias -- out of date by the time we bought them. Then libertarian Jimmy Wales came up with a web-based, crowd-sourced encyclopedia. Crowd-sourced? A Britannica editor called Wikipedia "a public restroom." But Wales won the battle. Britannica's encyclopedias are no longer printed. Congratulations to Wales. But recently I learned that Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger now says Wikipedia's political pages have turned into leftist "propaganda." That's upsetting. Leftists took over the editing? Sadly, yes. I checked it out. All editing is done...

A conservative alternative in the up-and-coming online encyclopedia field said it aims to combat what it calls "liberal bias" on the highly popular collaborative Wikipedia.com site. Conservapedia.com was formed late last year in a bid to challenge the established online encyclopedia giant Wikipedia, which is one of the 15 most visited websites in the world. The conservative encyclopedia began as a class project for Andrew Schlafly - whose mother, Phyllis founded the Eagle Forum - and 58 of his New Jersey history students. It claims to have grown since then to be "one of the largest and most reliable online...

Conservapedia is not the best written site on the web and it can be a tad strident but they try. And it certainly is not a source of virii, spam and pornography. If you have a plug-in, however, for the popular website rating system, MyWOT, it will indicate, however, Conservapedia is untrustworthy, unsafe for vendors and unsafe for children. Which is a pretty good indication of the trustworthiness of MyWOT

[Conservapedia reports] Message to—atheist and evolutionist—Richard Dawkins: The Conservapedia web page Resources for leaving atheism and becoming a Christian has received over 6,500 views in approximately 30 days and is featured in Conservapedia's Richard Dawkins article. Dr. Dawkins, thank you for giving Conservapedia so much material that supports the notion that the leading spokesmen of evolutionary "science" and atheism are incompetents and charlatans!

The Conservapedia Richard Dawkins Project was launched to expand Conservapedia's current collection of Richard Dawkins material. There does appear to be quite of bit of public interest in the Conservapedia article on Richard Dawkins as it contains factual material concerning the atheist Richard Dawkins that you will not find at Wikipedia and other liberal websites. ..."...Mary Kenny thinks that there are more atheist men than women, and that this is the result of some sort of attempt at overt manliness on their part. She really must try to pay attention - to Richard Dawkins, for example whom one could hardly...

I just read the AP story about Conservapedia.com, the Bible rewriting project proposing to erase the effects of "liberal academics" who have "watered down" Jesus by studying the ancient languages of the Bible. The linguists, one supposes, are all secret Satanists and cannot be trusted. The group's founder, Andy Schlafly, is the son of Phyllis Schlafly. The apple has not fallen far from the tree. These are the same John Birchers and reactionary right-wingers of yore. Conservapedia is just a new offshoot of that poisonous tree, and Schlafly is the fruit of fringe insanity. The poor kid was raised to...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — If Andy Schlafly has his way, there will be no socialists or snake handlers in the Bible. No woman caught in adultery. And, definitely, no Stephen Colbert. Schlafly, founder of Conservapedia.com, wants to save the Scriptures from liberals with his latest venture, the Conservative Bible Project. He says translations like the New International Version have added socialist ideals to the Good Book. But his rewrite of the Bible has drawn criticism from biblical scholars, liberals and conservatives.

Liberal bias has become the single biggest distortion in modern Bible translations. There are three sources of errors in conveying biblical meaning are, in increasing amount: lack of precision in the original language, such as terms underdeveloped to convey new concepts introduced by Christ lack of precision in modern language translation bias in converting the original language to the modern one. Experts in ancient languages are helpful in reducing the first type of error above, which is a vanishing source of error as scholarship advances understanding. English language linguists are helpful in reducing the second type of error, which also...

Postmodernism is a worldview characterized by a belief in the lack of an objective truth, and wehich asserts that assertions of objective knowledge are essentially impossible. A strong part of postmodernist thought is an intentional departure from traditional approaches that had previously been dominant... Some postmodernist idea are: Truth is a "social construct," rather than objectively provable. There is no superior culture; Western culture is no better than any other (see cultural relativism)...

"Andy Schlafly was appalled. He was teaching a history class to home-schooled teens and one student had just turned in an assignment that dated events as "BCE," before the common era - rather than "B.C." or before Christ. "Where did that come from?" he demanded. Her answer was "Wikipedia." Schlafly knew he had to act. In his mind, the popular online encyclopedia - written and edited by self-appointed experts worldwide - was riddled with liberal bias.......

“Tired of the LIBERAL BIAS every time you search on Google and a Wikipedia page appears? Our study suggests that Wikipedia is 6 times more liberal than the American public. Now it’s time for the Conservatives to get our voice out on the internet!” So begins the rallying cry for Conservapedia.com, aspiring right-leaning rival to Wikipedia.org - the online encyclopedia project that now claims 7.2 million articles in 251 languages and traffic that ranks it among the world’s top 15 sites. Wikipedia is adamant about striving to maintain a “neutral point of view.” But because it is “written collaboratively by...

Welcome to the Web site Conservapedia.com, founded by Andrew Schlafly, son of conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly. The site describes itself as "a much-needed alternative to Wikipedia, which is increasingly anti-Christian and anti-American." Even when the heart of the definition is the same, Wikipedia and Conservapedia differ on the delivery. On each other Wikipedia: Conservapedia is a wiki project to construct an encyclopedia with articles that are pro-American, socially conservative and supportive of conservative Christianity. Conservapedia: Some users feel that despite the site's claims of a "neutral point of view," there is a consistent anti-American and anti-Christian bias in Wikipedia entries...

This is just a link to an annoying little site called conservapediawww.conservapedia.com/Main_Page Maybe groaning is a bit much, but I really like wikipedia. I don't use it for anything that absolutely has to be right, for that I go to the campus library and look through their journals. However, if I only need something quick and easy or if I'm getting started and need to take a first step, wikipedia is wonderful. When people speak ill of wikipedia, I get annoyed. Anyway, conservapedia is based on the wikipedia model, but feels that wikipedia has too much of a liberal bias....
