OAKLAND, Calif. -- Police used tear gas and flash-bang canisters Tuesday night to disperse a group of hundreds of Occupy Oakland protesters that was calling for the crowd to retake Franklin Ogawa Plaza by city hall. The tear gas and flash-bang canisters were used by police at about 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of 14th and Broadway. The crowd of 500-to-1,000 people immediately cleared with people rushing away from the scene with their hands and handkerchiefs covering their faces.
