The Puget Sound Free Republic Chapter has been in existence since June 1998, but it hasn’t been a smooth ride. While starting a chapter is not all that difficult, keeping one alive is a genuine challenge. People come and people go from this site, and maintaining an active chapter is more than enough work for one individual. This is the story of one chapter. My purpose is to provide some object lessons for other Chapter Executives and some pointers for those who want to start and maintain a chapter. In the Beginning In the dark ages, Free Republic had neither ...

Ignoring Canada's conservative readers Barbara Kay National Post Wednesday, November 08, 2006 MONTREAL - Pity Sorya Ingrid Gaulin. Her role as VP of Public Relations at Indigo Books and Music demanded she confront the wrathful public face of North America's most formidable conservative tiger, Mark Steyn. In a November 4 letter to the National Post, she rebutted Steyn's "ludicrous" claim in Maclean's that Indigo deliberately under-ordered copies of his new, widely heralded book, America Alone: The End of the World as we Know it. Gaulin admits there are none available at the moment, but claims Steyn already knew more...

I am proudly disturbed by the article written by Mr. Todd Milbourn, Bee Staff Writer and the grab bag of specious allegations made against the non-profit organization Move America Forward, of which I am Chairwoman. This story should never have been written. It quotes anti- military liberal activists who have found themselves in the crosshairs of a pro-America, pro-troop movement. The gist of Mr. Milbourn's piece is that the IRS is cracking down on 'nonprofit organizations that stray into party politics.' But no where in Milbourn's piece is one shred of evidence that Move America Forward has EVER violated any...

I'm debating on whether to start a Conservative chapter here in Stillwater. But I'm going to need some help from those who already led and have started successful chapters. I am the Webmaster for the OSU College Republicans. Click here! Should I start a FreeRepublic chapter? A protestwarrior chapter? Something else? I really feel like we could do a TON of good if we had a organization full of youth that could work the streets during election time. Lets say I wanted to start a chapter for FreeRepublic? Where would I get the signs, etc? Or Protestwarrior? You can make...

Lately there has been a cry coming from Freepers in the Buffalo, Niagara Falls areas that we get a chapter going. We at one time had a Chapter, we need to do it again. Our first meeting was held 02/24/2001 There are all to many issues on the table this year that need to be addressed. Just in Erie County alone the issue most pressing is the pay raises for the County Executive, Sheriff, Controller, Clerk and the Legislature. The democrats have openly endorsed J F Kerry. State Sen Byron Brown will be the annointed one for Mayor of Buffalo....

A couple weeks ago, diotima of FRN suggested we create a compilation of photos from the numerous pro-Troop rallies and forwarded it to our Armed Services personnel. Original thread. I have collected photos from 63 rallies in as many cities, just since March 1st, and I will continue to do so with future events. Here is our thinking and where we need input and assistance from the ever creative and resourceful Freepers. Theme: An UPBEAT montage of differing photos, interlaced with public domain shots of American landscape/monument photos, short video clips of rallies, and energetic music throughout. We'd like to...

I am off to Moran's to join the rest of the chapter in welcoming MadIvan to New York. I will attempt to post using my pocket PC and my wireless modem as we haven't arranged for a modem connection with a laptop there is no sense on lugging around the extra weight in addition to my camera and camcoder. We will try to upload some digital pictures as the party is progressing and hope that AT&T has a CDPD node nearby to transmit. Barring that, we will continue the thread once we get home.

AnnaZ's home is located in Ground Zero in the immigration debate: There is a travel agency nearby advertising trips to Mexico, in Spanish. And Spanish is all over the place, in the business names, on the streets, everywhere. You start to see what Invasion, the title of Michelle Malkin's anti-illegal book, really means. Unfortunately, thanks to my own lateness in leaving work and a horrendous traffic tie up on Topanga Canyon, I missed Michelle Malkin entirely. And, as many of you know, I am on the other side in the illegal immigration controversy, so it may have been just as...

The results are in and the winner is Fresno/Central Valley Chapter with 135 new voter registrations. Second place - NorCal-Capitol Area Chapter (farmfriend); Third place - Orange County Chapter (seenenuf); Fourth place - San Diego County (CyberAnt). Los Angeles Chapter not participating - probably too busy freeping up a storm (which is okay by us).

Earlier this month, the Free Republic Network held its annual Board meeting. In addition to electing new officers, we have decided to rework our Board and operational structure a bit. The new FRN Board of Directors consists of nine members: Interesting Times (Chairman), Skeet (Executive Director), Diotima, Bob J, MinuteGal, DoughtyOne, Nick Danger, Seeking the Truth and Abner. We are also forming a new FRN Executive Team to help plan and organize events, design and implement services for FR Chapters, and to work with FRN Strategic partners such as the ACU and the Leadership Institute. Upcoming FRN-hosted events include CPAC...
