South Africa begins gun amnesty South Africa has begun a nationwide amnesty for gun owners in an attempt to reduce the country's high crime levels. For the next three months, people who own illegal weapons will be able to hand them in to police stations without fear of prosecution. Wichita County authorities are helping in the search for a Mesquite, Texas, man who is believed to have kidnapped his 12-year-old stepdaughter. Mesquite police say the girl, Jami Nicole Hicks, was last seen with James Roy Hudachek on Friday.
