A Florida county is urging residents to call 911 sparingly as hospitals experience an influx of COVID-19 patients. Inmates took part in a major cleanup in Brevard County. The sheriff's office's "chain gang' pitched in to clean up a homeless camp and dumping ground under the Sykes Creek Parkway Bridge. They removed 22,600 pounds of garbage under the bridge. All that filled 16 trucks. The trucks hauled the trash to the landfill.

According to an airport official, an unauthorized student pilot boarded a commercial jet. An armed bystander shot a man who opened fire at a Florida park filled with over 100 people -- including children -- for a Saturday back-to-school cookout, officials said.
