“Civilian heroes” Boris Gurman and Sofia Gurman have been identified as the 11th and 12th victims in the Bondi Beach terror massacre after footage emerged of them running towards danger and wrestling away a rifle from terrorist Sajid Akram. Boris, 69, and Sofia, 61, Russian-speaking Jewish immigrants who died beside one another as likely the very first of Akram’s victims, remembered by their family for their “bravery and selflessness”. The pair were seen in dashcam footage earlier on Tuesday, where Boris wrestled a longarm gun from the hands of Akram in a violent struggle on the Bondi Beach footbridge. Akram...

As the appalling story of Sunday’s anti-Jewish mass shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach continue to unfold, and 16 people are now dead, there have been few glimmers of light in the darkness. The men identified as the shooters are a father and son, Sajid Akram, 50, and Naveed Akram, 24. The father was shot and killed by police last night, and the son was overpowered and taken into custody. The New South Wales police commissioner says little is yet known about the pair, but Sajid Akram was a licensed gun owner, with six guns in his possession. Old social media...

Pro-gun voices in the United States have seized on the mass shooting at Bondi Beach to express contempt for Australia’s gun laws, … Less so with the critique from certain Americans. The sort who are perpetually insisting it’s inappropriate to talk about gun laws when the bullets are killing their own children, but are now eager to shout “I told you so”. A small sample, here. “Australia has among the toughest gun laws in the world, and ‘diversity is their strength’. Pray for the victims, and for wisdom to follow.” “I was reliably told that Australia’s strict gun laws eliminated...

The second hero seen throwing items at one of the Bondi gunmen as Ahmed Al Ahmed wrestled the gun from his hands has been identified as 62-year-old Reuven Morrison. Mr Morrison, a Jewish man and member of the Chabad Synagogue, ran toward the danger on Sunday evening as Sajid Akram fired across Archer Park, throwing bricks at him in an attempt to stop the killings. Dressed in a white t-shirt, he is the hero seen alongside Ahmed Al Ahmed in viral videos of the attack. Mr Morrison’s family said he ran in to help Mr Ahmed after the gun jammed...

In the aftermath of tragedies, societies reveal not only their wounds but also their underlying moral instincts. One of the most striking stories to emerge from the mass shooting at Bondi Beach was that of Ahmed Fatih Al Ahmed, a 43-year-old man who intervened during the attack by disarming one of the gunmen. He was subsequently shot several times in the shoulder and has undergone surgery at St George Hospital.According to accounts shared by his family, Ahmed acted instinctively. “When he did what he did, he wasn’t thinking about the background of the people he’s saving, the people dying in the...

Nope, not satire.Benny Johnson@bennyjohnson · Follow The Prime Minister of Australia says the true threat is “right-wing extremist groups” after the Islamic terrorist attack yesterday. Actually absurd. Two Islamic migrants - a father and son, no less - killed at least 15 people on Sunday at a Jewish beach party celebrating the start of Hanukkah. This means, of course, that the leftwing globalists have to remind us that "antisemitism" and "the rise of right-wing extremist groups" are the problem.

Rifles and flag used in the Picnic Train Attack by Muslims in Broken Hill Australia, 1 January, 1915 One of the lesser known, but informative actions of the First World War, was an attack, by Muslims, on a picnic train of unarmed civilians in Australia. The attack killed four civilians. A quick response by police, soldiers and civilians killed the two attackers after they took up a defensive position on a nearby hill top at Broken Hill, in New South Wales. At the start of the First World War, the Ottoman Empire had not chosen sides. Blunders by the...

Battle of Broken Hill The Department of Veteran’s Affairs announced last March that the centenary of the Battle of Broken Hill on 1 January 2015 would not be formally commemorated by the Australian Government. That decision will now be seen in hindsight by many as a wise one indeed—following the fallout resulting from the horrific Martin Place siege perpetrated by self-styled Islamic cleric Man Haron Monis just two weeks ago - that claimed his life and those of two innocent civilians. However Nicholas Shakespeare has written a novella—”Oddfellows” - based on this little known event—to be published by Random House...

There is every reason to be extremely worried about a survey in Australia last week indicating that nearly half the population believes that Muslims and people from the Middle East do not belong in the country. Many may not find a growing Islamophobia in Australia all that strange. After all, Australia is one of the few countries that has backed President George Bush’s policies on Iraq; it was where mosques were attacked in the aftermath of Sept. 11, and the government has pursued a persistently hard-line policy against asylum seekers, invariably Muslims. Nor can anyone forget the notorious Pauline Hanson,...

Sen. John Fetterman broke with Democrats on Sunday, siding with Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham as he accused members of his party of embracing antisemitic rhetoric after a deadly terror attack during a Hanukkah celebration in Australia over the weekend. Appearing on "Sunday Morning Futures," Fetterman said he agreed "with virtually everything" Graham warned about earlier in the program. Graham had raised concerns about empowering Hamas by moving toward Palestinian statehood. "It’s an absolute betrayal for Israel and for the worldwide Jewish community," said Fetterman. "Whether it's France or Australia or any of these nations, our Western allies now calling for...

Police departments in New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, and other major cities said they are on high alert after a shooting in Australia’s Bondi Beach over the weekend that left numerous people dead. Officials in Sydney said that at least 11 people were shot and killed in an attack on Sunday as hundreds gathered to celebrate Hanukkah. Authorities indicated that it was a terrorist attack targeting Jewish people. “We are closely monitoring the horrific attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, during a Hanukkah celebration,” the New York Police Department (NYPD) said in a statement. “We are in touch...

At least 15 people were killed by gunmen at Sydney's Bondi Beach.Among the 15 victims of a mass shooting at Australia's Bondi Beach targeting an event for the Jewish festival of Hanukkah on Sunday (Dec 14) were a rabbi who was a father of five, a Holocaust survivor and a 10-year-old girl, according to interviews, officials and local media reports. Albanese said he would propose new restrictions, including limiting the number of guns a licensed owner can obtain.Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Monday proposed tougher national gun laws after a mass shooting targeted a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney's Bondi Beach, leaving at least 15 people dead. Albanese said he would propose new restrictions, including limiting the number of guns a licensed owner can obtain. His proposals were announced after the authorities revealed that the older of the two gunmen — who were a father and son — had held a gun license for a decade and amassed his six...

On Saturday's On the Town I played the late Ted Egan's classic song "We Got Some Bloody Good Drinkers in the Northern Territory" - and wondered afterwards: "Does it get any more Australian than that?" Answer came there less than twenty-four hours later. Wherever you live in the west, "diversity" seems to be making us all the same: one big rapey-stabby blood-drenched craphole. That said, Sydney's Jew-slaughter was of sufficient scale to obscure America's two simultaneous Hannukah attacks - in Los Angeles and at Brown University, the would-be killer and actual killer still at large. As I first wrote all...

National Cabinet has vowed strengthen Australia's gun laws in the wake of the Bondi Beach terror attack. In a statement following the snap meeting on Monday, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said "immediate" priorities included a crackdown on 3D-printed weapons, tighter limits on the number of firearms a person can own, gun imports, and equipment that can hold large amounts of ammunition. Albanese also said police ministers and attorneys-general across the nation had been tasked with developing a number of policies which would limit Australians' access to firearms. They include a requirement that all licence-holders are Australian citizens, deeper background checks...

Australia’s domestic intelligence agency, ASIO, had examined one of the Bondi Beach terrorists six years ago over his ties to a Sydney-based Islamic State (ISIS) cell, Australian network ABC reported. On Sunday, Naveed Akram, 24, and his father, Sajid Akram, 50, murdered 15 people when they opened fire at a Hanukkah celebration marking the first night of the Jewish festival. Naveed remains in hospital under police guard after his father was shot dead in an exchange of gunfire with police. Heavily armed officers raided the family’s home in Bonnyrigg, south-west Sydney, and an AirBnB in Campsie where the men had...
