A newly discovered affliction has some doctors wondering if astronauts traveling to Mars could be blind by the time they got there.A new study of astronauts shows that radiation and bone loss aren't the only health risks for long-duration stays in space. About one-third of the U.S. space station crew members return with impaired vision, a condition in which at least one case was permanent. The data has been slow in coming since astronauts can be disqualified from flying if they have serious ailments. "These are guys who really don't like to complain about physical issues because it may...

SNIPPET: "According to one of my most trusted sources, the blurry image seen on the tape is indeed Osama bin Laden. One of the reasons that this is convincing is that the blurry image remains in the video. As Sahab, which produces al Qaeda's propaganda, is very selective in the information it releases, and rarely leaves garbage in its videos. As Sahab intentionally leaves in this clip, for reasons unknown. Does al Qaeda want to generate a buzz? Is this a hidden message? Perhaps this is a precursor to a new bin Laden tape?"

I have a Dell flat screen monitor which is probably five years old. Within the last month, I've noticed the screen is slightly blurry. It's not readily obvious unless you sit and look at it. However, it's causing me eye strain and blurry vision which lasts for some time after looking at it. I can't look at the screen for more than a couple of minutes without eye strain. I never had this before. I'm prepared for the fact that I may need to buy a new monitor but I'd like to rule everything else out first. Changing the refresh...

BLURRY snaps could be a thing of the past with the development of a digital camera that refocuses photos after they have been taken. The camera could be useful for action shots taken by sports photographers or for CCTV surveillance cameras, which often produce fuzzy shots due to poor lighting. In an ordinary digital camera, a sensor behind the lens records the light level that hits each pixel on its surface. If the light rays reaching the sensor are not in focus, the image will appear blurry. Now, Pat Hanrahan and his team at Stanford University have figured out how...
