Peter and Hazelmary Bull following the Supreme Court ruling. LONDON, November 28, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Peter and Hazelmary Bull, the Christian hoteliers fined for refusing a single room to two homosexual men in September 2008, have lost their appeal to the UK’s Supreme Court, with the court ruling that their company policy was “discriminatory.” Despite the fact that the couple proved that their policy applied equally to any unmarried couples, and not just homosexuals, all five judges ruled the Bulls’ policy to be a case of illegal discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation, and dismissed their appeal. Two of...

Fined: B&B owners Peter and Hazelmary Bull. Mr and Mrs Bull were forced to pay £3,600 to the couple in a landmark...

March 4, 2005 Free to B&B Can liberals rediscover liberalism? Jacob Sullum The other night, upon accepting the 2005 Irving Kristol Award from the American Enterprise Institute, a bastion of inside-the-Beltway conservatism, the Peruvian novelist Mario Vargas Llosa gave a speech extolling liberalism. Not, he hastened to explain, the contemporary American version, but liberalism in its older sense, an outlook predicated on "tolerance and respect for others," the basic elements of which are "political democracy, the market economy, and the defense of individual interests over those of the state." This liberalism, which requires private property, free markets, and the...
  • Bed and Breakfast advice for Baton Rouge Area

    02/02/2005 4:19:43 PM PST · by hoppity · 8 replies · 368+ views
Hey all. My wife and I are heading to Louisiana for our tenth anniversary in August. We're flying in to Baton Rouge, and planning to hit a B&B or two, then head to New Orleans. The three that stand out to me are the Nottoway Plantation, the Cottage Plantation, and the Chretien Point Plantation. Does anyone know anything about these places? Or better places to stay? I sure would appreciate some local knowledge, or recommendations if you've been to the area. Thanks.
