The Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Hillary Clinton have a HUGE Weiner problem that is even bigger than we first realized. According to the recently released inspector general report, on September 28 and 29, 2016 the New York office of the FBI immediately reported to the Washington headquarters its discovery of, first, 141,000 and then 350,000 emails on the laptop of Anthony Weiner — also known as “Carlos Danger,” a now-convicted sex offender. Mr. Weiner is the husband of Hillary Clinton’s inseparable aide Huma Abedin. Now we know by October 4, the New York office had...

WASHINGTON (AP) — IRS employees erased computer backup tapes a month after officials discovered that thousands of emails related to the tax agency's tea party scandal had been lost, according to government investigators. The investigators, however, concluded that employees erased the tapes by mistake, not as part of an attempt to destroy evidence. As many as 24,000 emails were lost because 422 backup tapes were erased, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. The revelation is likely to fuel conspiracy theories among conservatives who say the IRS has obstructed congressional investigations into the scandal. George...

An email sent by a subcontractor suggests that Hillary Clinton’s deputies repeatedly directed them to erase months-old backups of her State Department emails, just as federal officials began asking for the emails. The email was described Tuesday, in a letter sent by Senator Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI)66% , the chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee. Johnson’s letter outlines the complicated arrangement between Hillary Clinton’s operating company, Clinton Executive Services Corp. and its computer-server subcontractor, Platte River Networks. The Platte River subcontractor used a email backup device operated by another firm, Datto. Johnson writes: “It also appears [Platte...

The company that stored Hillary Clinton’s private email server tells Breitbart News no backup of Clinton’s server has ever been known to exist. “No data or backups have ever been known to exist or have ever been in the possession of Platte River Networks,” a representative for the company said in an interview. (snip) The company representative confirmed that Denver-based Platte River Networks was hired by the Clinton family in June 2013, five months after Clinton left the State Department, to secure the private email server that she used to conduct official government business. Platte River Networks was paid by...

Does the IRS actually have their backups for e-mail from the period when Lois Lerner and her group targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny on tax-exempt applications? The agency claimed a month ago that it overwrote the tapes every six months, in one of the most notorious (and unsuccessful) Friday afternoon document dumps ever. New testimony from one of the IRS’ top lawyers released last night by the House Oversight Committee casts doubt on that story (via Instapundit): The IRS might not have lost the backups of former agency administrator Lois Lerner’s emails after all, according to top IRS...

In Q and A with Rep. Chaffetz, Koskinen says agency did not pursue recovery because it was ‘costly’ House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., today convened a hearing with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner John Koskinen on the loss of former IRS official Lois Lerner’s email over a two year period. Under questioning from Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), Koskinen said that the IRS made no effort to recover Lerner’s email archive from the six month backups after her initial computer problems in June of 2011. Question & Answer with Rep. Chaffetz: Chaffetz: Thank you Chairman, my...

What would you do if your entire digital life started evaporating before your eyes and there was virtually nothing you could do about it? This is the nightmare scenario that greeted US technology journalist Mat Honan, who had all of the contents of his iPhone, iPad and Macbook Air wiped, and lost control of his Gmail and Twitter accounts, all in the span of just over 15 minutes.

SEVERE SPACE WEATHER: The National Academy of Sciences has just released the results of a study entitled Severe Space Weather Events--Understanding Societal and Economic Impacts. The 132-page document examines what might happen to our high-tech modern society in the event of a super solar flare followed by an extreme geomagnetic storm. Such a storm did occur in the year 1859. It electrified telegraph lines, shocking technicians and setting telegraph papers on fire; Northern Lights as far south as Cuba were so bright, you could read a newspaper by their eerie glow." According to the report, "a contemporary repetition of that...
