Mayor Eric Garcetti warned Sunday that the economic downturn facing Los Angeles will be more painful than the 2008 recession, requiring cuts to government programs and the furlough of thousands of city employees. In a remarkable State of the City address, one that comes five weeks into the shutdown of many businesses, government buildings and other facilities, Garcetti declared that the city is “under attack” from the coronavirus and the economic fallout that has come with it.

Seven more teens have been arrested for the brutal beatdown of a 15-year-old girl in Brooklyn, cops said Sunday. The teens, ranging in ages from 14 to 16, were charged with robbery and gang assault for the attack at Sterling Place and Utica Ave. in Crown Heights about 4 p.m. on Thursday. Monroe, a 26-year-old resident of Walnut Avenue in Bunnell’s Mondex neighborhood, shot and killed a dog Thursday (Dec. 5), firing at the animal in front of its owners, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy. Two bottlenose dolphins dragged a frightened schoolgirl underwater and left her injured after a swimming experience with the animals went wrong.
