On Friday’s broadcast of CNBC’s “Fast Money,” Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Wesley Clark (Ret.) said that “Israel is not going to trust the United States if Iran strikes. It can’t, because look at what’s happening in Gaza right now with the pressure between the United States and Israel.” And “Iran has to feel like they’re kind of winning right now. They’ve got the United States and Israel at odds, Hamas has survived, you’ve got the whole world down on the Israelis for what’s gone on in Gaza. This was part of the plan.”

On Wednesday’s broadcast of “CNN’s “AC360,” CNN Military Analyst and former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Wesley Clark (Ret.) stated that “right now, the momentum is with Hamas.” Because “They know the weight of global opinion, including in the United States, is weighing in against the Israelis, against a continuation of the operation into Rafah. And they know that if they simply hang tough, continue to report casualties, get the sympathy of the world on their side, there will be increasing pressure against Israel. And this has been really the aim of their war plan since October 7.” Clark also...

Ukraine needs heavy weapons and air support. Tanks, multiple-launch rockets, self-propelled artillery, air support — MiGs and Sukhoi aircraft — and mobile air defense. They need hundreds of thousands of 152mm artillery rounds. The US-supplied Javelins and Stingers are necessary but no longer sufficient. Why? Because there is a window of opportunity now — for a week or two perhaps — in which Ukraine can counterattack in the north, south and east to expel Russian forces. This will require mobile armored forces and air power. And if this window is lost, the future is darker and more uncertain. [cut] NO...

“Why don't we have a program where Americans can donate the 5-10 million privately owned assault rifles they do not need to Ukraine? It would help both countries.” - Wesley Clark 3/5/22

Q: What moves could the United States make beyond sanctions right now that would help protect Ukraine? A: The most important move now is for the president to announce Vladimir Putin is a war criminal. Really. This gives enormous diplomatic leverage and a greater incentive to help the campaign. ... Q: You advocate a no-fly zone? A: Absolutely. The airspace belongs to Ukraine. If they ask for help, why can’t we fly airplanes in there? Say, oh, it’s because of the Russians, they might come up and contest it. That’s the Russians’ problem. They’re going to get shot down. Okay,...

Although he actually died at 7:30 the following morning, today is the anniversary of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) on 14 April 1865, only five days after Lee's surrender at Appomattox. Lincoln was very fond of the theater, and that evening, he and Mrs. Lincoln - likely in a celebratory mood because of the end of the Civil War - attended a performance of the comedy, Our American Cousin, by English playwright Tom Taylor at Ford's Theater on 10th Street NW in Washington. There, following the intermission, actor and Southern sympathizer John Wilkes Booth managed to gain access...

A well-known Washington insider has been telling Arkies this weekend that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is trying to talk Sen. Blanche Lincoln out of running for re-election. That would open the door for a Wes Clark candidacy. And U.S. Rep. Mike Ross would be in the race in a heartbeat

In an e-mail message sent this week to his own supporters, Clark, who is said to be considering another run for the White House in 2008, lauded the Greenwich cable company executive for "running the type of campaign all Democrats can be proud of." "Standing up to President Bush's failed policy in Iraq, dispensing with self-serving and wishy-washy notions of 'independence,' and pledging to invest in America's future, Ned Lamont is a candidate for Senate who I am proud to endorse," he wrote. Clark also took a swipe at Lieberman, now running as an independent, saying the senator had "decided...

The great thing about Clark is his ability to not answer directly. I think that is great in a President. I thought Clinton did that well and it was admirable. I am sick of gotcha politics. Deception is useful in the 24 hour news cycle. I think we need a President that can answer questions creatively rather than directly. George Bush isn't slick enough with his speech-- and that's what I can't stand. The wonderful thing is that we can criticize the military with impunity because Clark is a 4 star. Dean can't get away with that, we can. Priceless....

Manchester, New Hampshire IT'S AROUND 1 P.M. on Tuesday, January 13, and General Wesley K. Clark, the former supreme commander of NATO and Democratic presidential candidate, is visiting Child Health Services, a clinic for low-income children. He's locked in conversation with one Janet Clark, the director of special medical pediatrics, who has worked here for 20 years, and who is not, she is quick to say, related to the candidate. She mentions that the center engages in "child advocacy." "What is 'advocacy'?" asks the general, interrupting. "That's a term of art. What does it mean? Lay it out for me:...

Democrats are so delirious about finding a general who is a pacifist scaredy-cat that no one seems to have bothered to investigate whether Wesley Clark is sane. On "Meet the Press" back in November, Clark described intelligence as "a sort of gray goo as you look at it. You can't see through it, exactly, and if you try to touch it, it gets real sticky and you might actually interfere with the information that you're getting back. So you have to draw inferences from it." No, wait. I'm sorry. I think that was Clark talking about Monica Lewinsky's dress,...

Wesley Clark said yesterday the two greatest lies of the last three years are that the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks couldn't have been prevented and that another attack is inevitable. He said a Clark administration would protect America in the future. "If I'm president of the United States, I'm going to take care of the American people," Clark said in a meeting with the Monitor editorial board. "We are not going to have one of these incidents." Clark, a retired Army general, envisioned a future in which Americans "have more confidence in ourselves as a people." He continued: "Nothing...

Details of Russia's surprise occupation of Pristina airport at the end of the Kosovo war are revealed in a new BBC documentary on the conflict. For the first time, the key players in the tense confrontation between Nato and Russian troops talk about the stand-off which jeopardised the entire peacekeeping mission. The Russians, who played a crucial role in persuading Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic to end the war, had expected to police their own sector of Kosovo, independent of Nato. When they did not get it, they felt double-crossed. As Nato's K-For peacekeepers prepared to enter the province on 12...
