Nick Reiner smiled eerily in court today as his high-profile criminal defense lawyer sensationally removed himself from the case. The dramatic departure suggests the Reiner family is pulling financial support from Nick's legal battle after the shocking murders of their parents. Nick, 32, appeared behind a glass screen in brown jail garb with a shaved head, staring blankly through proceedings and occasionally letting out a chilling grin and looked directly into the packed Downtown LA courtroom. He was scheduled to be arraigned on two counts of first-degree murder at Los Angeles Superior Court's Stanley Mosk Courthouse and was widely expected...

Hotshot lawyer Alan Jackson likely quit Nick Reiner’s murder case because he doesn’t have the money to foot the bill for the pricey attorney, experts told The Post. The 32-year-old son of beloved movie director Rob Reiner was in court in Los Angeles on Wednesday, where Jackson announced he and his firm would be withdrawing as Nick Reiner’s defense lawyer after just three weeks on the case. Jackson — who notably helped Karen Read clinch an acquittal on charges of murdering her cop boyfriend — said he couldn’t disclose why, but experts said it’s most likely a financial decision.

Alan Jackson got choked up on stage.May 17 marked Alan Jackson's last stop on his current tour — which is going to be his last. Y'all may have heard that I'm kinda winding down, and in fact this is my last road show of my career," Jackson, 66, said in front of a roaring Milwaukee crowd. "Y'all gonna make me tear up out here. But I will say, this is my last road show out here, but we're planning on doing a big finale show in Nashville next summer sometime. It just felt like I had to end it all...

Alan Jackson is opening up to fans about a disease he’s been battling for years. The 62-year-old country singer told the “Today” show that he’s been battling a “no cure” degenerative neurological condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease for the better part of a decade. “It’s not going to kill me. NEW YORK (AP) -- Denise Jackson knew that her marriage to Alan Jackson wasn't perfect. She was too needy and insecure in the relationship, and he was on the road a lot, becoming one of country's biggest superstars. Still, she wasn't prepared for the shock she got in 1998, shortly after the birth of their third child, when Jackson -- her sweetheart since their teen years -- told her that he didn't want to be in the marriage anymore. Hurt and disillusioned, she tried everything to get him back, and turned to prayer.

<p>''I'm just a singer of simple songs.</p>
<p>I'm not a real political man.</p>
<p>I watch CNN, but I'm not sure I can tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran.''</p>
<p>We at The Tennessean are paid to do more than know the difference between Iraq and Iran, but we could never more eloquently describe the emotions of a nation than Jackson did in his song Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning), which captured the mood of Sept. 11 and became an anthem for the grief so many people found difficult to put into words.</p>
