Alan Jackson got choked up on stage.
May 17 marked Alan Jackson's last stop on his current tour — which is going to be his last.
Y'all may have heard that I'm kinda winding down, and in fact this is my last road show of my career," Jackson, 66, said in front of a roaring Milwaukee crowd.
"Y'all gonna make me tear up out here. But I will say, this is my last road show out here, but we're planning on doing a big finale show in Nashville next summer sometime. It just felt like I had to end it all where it all started. And that's in Nashville, Tennessee Music City," he continued, adding, "so I gotta do the last one there."
In September 2021, Jackson went public with a medical condition that he's been dealing with for years. He has Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, which is described by the Mayo Clinic as causing nerve damage that affects the arms and legs.
"I have this neuropathy and neurological disease," Jackson said on Today. "It's genetic that I inherited from my daddy ... There's no cure for it, but it's been affecting me for years. And it's getting more and more obvious. And I know I'm stumbling around on stage. And now I'm having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone, and so I just feel very uncomfortable."
"It's not going to kill me. It's not deadly. But it's related (to) muscular dystrophy and Parkinson's disease," he added.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
That’s very sad. I remember his very first video on CMT.
I’m sad to hear that.
“But it’s related (to) muscular dystrophy and Parkinson’s disease,”
Parkinson’s was my first guess. That’s what my Dad died from. It was awful.
Yes. My mom died from that. Horrible. Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, I’ve never heard of that. Alan Jackson one of my favorites.
I had a patient once with that; he and both his brothers had it, affecting them since childhood. He walked, very unsteadily, with two crutch canes. Nothing to do for it.
I hate to hear this.Hes a goodun.Prayers for you sir.
Blessed Assurance 🙏📖
Mr. Jackson:
RUN TO DR JOEL WALLACH.
It is not genetic.
A girl that I knew was the office manager for a chiropractor in the greater Nashville area. Alan was one of their patients. She said he was a royal pain in the ass. He both assumed and demanded that the world revolve around him.
You’re saying “Yeah, they’re all like that”. Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin was also a client, he got there early, sat in the waiting room and chatted with her until they had the room ready. He made no demands, and was amenable to whatever they asked.
So, no, they’re NOT all like that.
tonight is the finale for American Idol. carrie underwood has come a long way since she was on the show..and yes, rumors are that she is quite the diva.
Alan Jackson was the reason we all got Taylor Swift…so there’s that…I’m sorry he was a jerk. Many are. Some are not. Maybe Mr. Jackson will gain some self reflection during this time.
Well...maybe not today....depending on the pathophysiology discovered in future investigations they might find a way to test for its presence and stop one of the key biochemical or genetic “lesions”. Might not be in our lifetime, however.
Haven stolen all your songs definitely humbles a man.
If chiropractic medicine really worked, a few adjustments and he would be as nice as pie.
