• Protest signs, placards etc...Where to get them?

During the election aftermath, I recall a website that allowed a download of various signs (Sore Loserman etc.) which were actually multiple PDFs that would print out on your PC computer and could then be assembled into a large sign, suitable for protests, anti-protests, support of an issue, etc. Anyone know of a similar site? Thanks in advance, and any MI Freepers, feel free to contact me for any ideas local to us.

Smokers huddled outside office buildings may seem beleaguered, but they should count their blessings. The freedom to puff a cigarette downstairs at work is slowly being extinguished. With little fanfare, smoking has quietly been prohibited even outside the premises of many companies. Meanwhile, college students are told they can do most anything inside their dorm rooms, except, of course, smoke.

All anybody has to do is close their browser after voting, erase cookies, then open a browser again to vote again. Almost like Cook County in Chicago..or Broward County. There are a handful of DUmb DUmbs spending their evening sore losing, that's all. MSNBC would just advertise how inept their web techs are if they ever mentioned this one. Maybe they could tell their tech about that obscure little thing called "ip addresses" to keep track of "votes"...lol

UCKNOW: A cultural fiesta, ‘The Matrix’, organised by the law honours students of the Lucknow University, turned out to be a fiasco due to the presence of a handful of rowdy elements. The programme had been organised on Sunday at Madhav auditorium in Saraswati Shishu Mandir. A few seniors came in an inebriated state and created a scene, hurled abuses at juniors and passed remarks at the girls inside the auditorium. The day-long programme was aimed at providing a healthy interaction between the students.Besides quiz, dance and singing competition, it also had a half-an-hour item ‘Campus Show’ in which the students staged ...

    The New York Times ^ | September 10, 2001 | RICHARD W. STEVENSON
ASHINGTON, Sept. 9 — As the economy takes on a recessionary tone and the political stakes rise, the two parties are scrambling to come up with proposals to rekindle prosperity, with Democrats and Republicans alike saying today that further tax cuts are possible if the deterioration continues. Urged on by Republicans in Congress who are nervous that an extended downturn could harm their election prospects in 2002, President Bush is considering such responses as cutting spending to keep the budget balanced or cutting capital gains taxes to give Wall Street a lift. Administration officials said the president had not decided ...

N.J. dentists making push for fluoridated water Sunday, September 9, 2001 By MAIA DAVIS Staff Writer Once a week, elementary school children throughout Paterson swish fluoride rinse in their mouths for one full minute before spitting it into a cup. Pupils at seven schools around Bergen County also rinse with fluoride, and beginning this fall, so will youngsters in Passaic. It's the only way health officials know for certain the children are getting the cavity-fighting mineral. They surely aren't getting it in their drinking water. More than half a century after U.S. cities and towns began adding fluoride to public ...

PANAJI: It's back to school for the 40 members of Goa assembly. Veterans, former chief ministers and first-timers are grappling with computers, learning how to email and chat. The newly built plush assembly complex, a dapper of a building that is noisy during the session, is strangely quiet as members drive up the hilltop where their politics on the floor of the House is ironically floored at the altar of knowledge. The tranquil ambience of the assembly is a semblance of peace and a storehouse of knowledge that has got many times metamorphosed with the intriguing world of politics merging into ...

Right to Roam or Licence to Trespass? Dr Jan Lester The 'right to roam' open and uncultivated countryside is a campaign that is gaining pace and which seems set to become legislation sooner or later. This would be immoral folly. I have no objection to roaming, or rambling, as such-as long as it is not compulsory either to roam or to suffer roamers. As the health fascists are slightly less influential than the egalitarians, the arguments in favour of making it compulsory to suffer roamers are making greater headway. A brief outline of the case for a 'right to ...

The expenses involved in gathering good intelligence must be enormous. Anyone interested is looking at about $500 a year per service. There must be some senator's nephew here who can swing this. Times are tough all over, I know. If someone can figure out a way to imbezzel the money from the democratic party so much the better. Get out Al Gore's check book, the link is below. Janes Services

Isn't it obvious that the government should fund academic research? Yet as clear as the benefits seem, there is a downside: Government officials simply cannot resist injecting politics into anything they touch. Denying that politics enters science is like denying that politics plays a role in what weapons systems are developed by the military. Surely the academics who stand to gain the research money for stem cell or AIDS research, for example, are prone to exaggerate what they hope to accomplish. But there is a more insidious problem from government funding: Politicians want research that supports their positions. Only certain ...

It was Richard M. Nixon who so famously, erroneously and cynically declared, "We are all Keynesians now," to ratify a national experiment with substantial deficit spending and inflation in time of recession. The inflation lasted one decade, through Republican and Democratic administrations, creating good times at first and then very bad ones. The deficits lasted longer, nearly three decades through Republican and Democratic administrations, through bad times good.

DRUDGE REPORT FLASH 2001® LONDON: SHARES AGONY FOR MILLIONS DAILY MAIL September 10, 2001 SMALL investors were warned yesterday that they are facing five years of shrinking savings. Plunging stock markets will hit many millions of people through pension schemes, endowments and savings accounts. City analysts said the 'glory days' of savers cashing in on a buoyant stock market are over. Share prices in both London and New York recorded sharp falls last week and there are fears that more bad news is on the way. Worries about the world economy are likely to send the FTSE-100 index of the ...

Population and the Wealth of Nations Population and the Wealth of Nations William McGurn Copyright (c) 1996 First Things 68 (December 1996): 22-25. By any measure, the future for this Asian country looked bleak. Enormously overcrowded, its normal population had skyrocketed, increased not just by a naturally high birthrate but also by revolution in a neighboring country-forcing thousands of desperate refugees upon its borders. Lacking natural resources and utterly dependent upon its unpleasant neighbor for water and food, the country's situation had deteriorated so badly that a local UN official declared the only way for it to survive would ...

The more I read and experience with the public school system, the more disgusted I get. I only envision it getting worse. Thus, I am seriously thinking about homeschooling. We may be moving to the Boise, ID area, and I was wondering if any FReepers could tell me of any good homeschooling groups around there. Also, if anyone has any wisdom that they are willing to share in regard to this, I would really welcome it. I will be homeschooling four children ranging in age from 7 to 16. One of them has Tourettes and is also high functioning autistic. ...

SANTIAGO, Chile -- The United States and Henry Kissinger were more deeply involved than was previously thought in a 1970 plot to prevent a left-wing politician from becoming Chile's president, CBS television news reported Sunday. The program "60 Minutes" quotes an independent researcher as saying that the CIA sent a cable to its office in Chile instructing agents there to continue fomenting a military takeover. The cable came following a conversation with Kissinger, who at the time was President Nixon's national security adviser and later became secretary of state.According to researcher Peter Kornbluh, the order also came a day after ...
