Scientists say they have built a cell from scratch for the first time that can feed, grow and replicate like a natural cell. This breakthrough in synthetic biology could usher in an era of made-to-order organisms that function like living machines. Kate Adamala, a synthetic biologist and professor at the University of Minnesota, and her team constructed the cell piece by piece from nonliving chemical components. The creation is a limited and fragile prototype, but it could help scientists better understand the origins of life and could potentially be programmed to help mitigate some of the world’s biggest biological problems....

BRUSSELS, June 30 (Reuters) - The European Union has transferred €3.9 billion ($4.44 billion) to Ukraine to finance drone procurement, the Commission said on Tuesday. The disbursement is part of a €90 billion loan approved by the EU earlier this year. This disbursement follows the Commission's first €3.2 billion instalment to Ukraine made on June 25 to help with the country's government financing. "We are releasing a first tranche of €3.9 billion for advanced drone technology to strengthen Ukraine's defence. And more will follow. These investments will help Ukraine protect its citizens, defend its sovereignty, and reinforce Europe's security," European...

THIS IS INSANE! 130 MPH winds destroyed windmills in South Dakota this morning. This is very rare. We hardly ever see windmills take this much damage from straight-line damaging winds. But when you push over 110 MPH winds, it becomes a lot easier for the windmills to crumble. Photos via Storm Chaser Jakob McMillin Accuweather describes set up that will make for severe storms all week long More reports of widespread damage from tornado-force straight line winds below. Ag Week: A devastating windstorm ripped through central South Dakota on the morning of June 29. According to the South Dakota State...

The Daughters of the American Revolution officially rejected a proposed ban on transgender women from joining the organization on June 26. The long-awaited vote came after years of pressure within the DAR — a nonprofit historical preservation and education society created in 1890, composed of women with direct ancestry to soldiers in the American Revolutionary War — to exclude trans women from the organization’s definition of “woman,” which would effectively ban them from its ranks. In 2023, the DAR officially amended their guidelines to include language that protects trans members against discrimination in the application process, per The Washingtonian. “Some...

ransomnote: The original post contains a good summary of the first White Pill discussed in the video. Below it, I transcribed the second white pill from the video.Theo Wold@RealTheoWoldThere is a whitepill from the Supreme Court's ruling on birthright citizenship. When I worked in the 45 White House, I drafted President Trump's original birthright citizenship executive order. At the time I was laughed out of rooms by senior legal officials at the White House who told me it wouldn't get a single vote at the Supreme Court.Today, there were four votes at SCOTUS for the right reading of the 14th amendment. The fight...

Native Americans won U.S. citizenship in 1924, but the struggle for voting rights stretched on for much longer. Native Americans couldn’t be U.S. citizens when the country ratified its Constitution in 1788, and wouldn’t win the right to be for 136 years. When Black Americans won citizenship with the 14th Amendment in 1868, the government specifically interpreted the law so it didn’t apply to Native people.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In yet another surprising decision that divided public opinion, the United States Supreme Court ruled that invading Xenomorphs who hatch on Earth are officially citizens of Earth. In the controversial 6-3 ruling, Chief Justice John Roberts and associate justices Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh sided with the court's liberal judges to confirm that Xenomorphs that hatch from their ovamorph pods on this planet are entitled to full rights and privileges of Earth's native citizens. "They have every right to attach themselves to your faces," Roberts wrote strongly in the majority opinion. "To deny the Xenomorphs these...

Manny Rutinel has just won the Democratic primary in Colorado's 8th Congressional District, and that should raise red flags for the people he hopes to represent. Why? Well, Rutinel has a long history of radical vegan activism, and animal agriculture is a massive economic engine in the district Rutinel hopes to represent. In fact, the 8th Congressional district is considered Colorado's agricultural capital. It is home to Weld County, the state's most agriculturally productive county, as well as some of the nation's biggest meat and dairy producers, the very companies Rutinel's vegan activism has targeted over the years. This includes...

The Supreme Court delivered a stunning blow to President Trump's birthright citizenship executive order, which sought to declare that babies born in the U.S. to mothers unlawfully present or in the United States on temporary visas would no longer automatically receive U.S. citizenship. The ruling in Trump v. Barbara was 6-3, with Justices Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and Chief Justice John Roberts joining the liberal justices in striking down the order. The ruling was exceptionally long, nearly 200 pages. Justice Clarence Thomas wrote a scathing dissent, grounding his reasoning in the view that the 14th Amendment was meant to apply...

President Donald Trump's Board of Peace announced on Wednesday that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for "Palestine Refugees" can not partake in rebuilding Gaza. The Board of Peace shared a post on X by the US Mission to the UN stating: "UN Member States have a choice: Fund incitement, terrorism, and stagnation with pledges to UNRWA. Or fund the Board of Peace, giving Gazans a path to peace and prosperity. History will not forget." The Board of Peace added: "UNRWA has no place in the new Gaza. We are turning the page on the complex of perpetual aid...

A pair of kissing-daredevils clad in dark clothes and a cat mask scaled the Empire State Building’s 1,454-foot antenna to unveil a cringe message over New York City. The duo – which appears to be a man and a woman – were carrying a banner reading “when the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace.” The banner’s message is a slightly modified version of a quote frequently misattributed to guitar legend Jimi Hendrix, which was actually spoken by 19th-century British politician William Gladstone. The woman in the reckless duo appeared to be wearing a black...

The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding tells Iran that Hezbollah survives and Israel leaves. The Trilateral Framework says that Hezbollah disarms and that, until it does, Israel stays in Lebanon. The negotiations with Iran were led by Vice President JD Vance, who never wanted this war and made no secret of his wish to end it cheaply. He produced the Islamabad MOU, the paper Iran's regime wanted to hear. The Trilateral Framework was created by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has spent his career treating Iran's proxy network as a threat to be dismantled rather than soothed. Iran negotiated the...

Alnaji, one of the leaders of a pro-Hamas contingent protesting against Israel in Thousand Oaks, California, on November 5, 2023, crossed two major thoroughfares to confront Kessler, who'd had the audacity to stand on a corner opposite Alnaji's group and wave an Israeli flag. As words were exchanged, Kessler took out his phone to video Alnaji, at which time Alnaji "decked" Kessler, according to an eyewitness. Ron Bamieh, Alnaji's attorney, claims his client acted in self-defense and is “not a violent man. He was at a rally exercising his right to protest, a tragic chain of events followed.” He says,...

US-Saudi relations have significantly deteriorated in recent months amid anger in Riyadh over Washington’s decision to launch a war against Iran that has caused massive blowback for the rest of the region, a Middle Eastern intelligence official tells The Times of Israel, confirming a Wall Street Journal report. Saudi Arabia refused to allow the US to use its bases in order to conduct Project Freedom, which was aimed at breaking Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz by escorting stuck ships out of the channel. Saudi bases and airspace were critical to the operation and Riyadh’s refusal to cooperate forced...

As a pragmatic and patriotic American I respectfully suggest and recommend the U.S. State Department immediately institute the “Roberts Requirement” following similar visa entry protocols previously used for COVID-19 tests prior to U.S. admittance. The Roberts Requirement: Each female visa applicant must present a valid negative pregnancy test taken no longer than 10 days prior to travel to the United States. The certified document, negative pregnancy test, together with all related visa approvals must be presented to Customs and Border Patrol at each port of entry. Failure disqualifies the traveler. This is the same protocol as COVID-19, only using pregnancy...

The central question Scripture asks is not “How much do you have?” but “Who has your heart—God or your money?” The prophets roar with indignation against the wealthy who forget God…Their message is a powerful reminder that how we acquire and use our wealth is a matter of worship. Amos condemned the rich who "trample on the needy and bring the poor of the land to an end" (Amos 8:4, ESV). Isaiah pronounced woe on those who "add house to house and join field to field" (Isaiah 5:8, ESV)… These prophetic critiques make it plain that God judges not the...
