A pair of kissing-daredevils clad in dark clothes and a cat mask scaled the Empire State Building’s 1,454-foot antenna to unveil a cringe message over New York City.
The duo – which appears to be a man and a woman – were carrying a banner reading “when the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace.”
The banner’s message is a slightly modified version of a quote frequently misattributed to guitar legend Jimi Hendrix, which was actually spoken by 19th-century British politician William Gladstone.
The woman in the reckless duo appeared to be wearing a black cat mask as they perilously dangled from the spire, at times holding on just one hand at a time.
It wasn’t immediately known how the trespassers managed to scale the structure.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

Some people need to get a life......and a JOB.
My proposed solution.
Apparently building security is quite poor.
“when the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace.”
Hogwash love never beats on a macro scale.
... and common sense...
To quote former First Lady Michelle:
“All This ... For a Flag??”
it should have said ‘when the power of wings beats the power of concrete’! hope they don’t fall off.
Idiots with nothing better to do in their useless lives than this
My thought was to send King Kong to bring them down, without 1930s bi-planes shooting at him and the climbers.

Radiation will cook their innerds, well done
HA!!!
you beat me to it
thanks!
Where is King Kong when we need him?
That picture is the antenna on a bus terminal or police station close to the ground, definitely not the Empire State Building
(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding
How are there busses parked near the top?
While I agree with their sentiments, nobody can read their banner from up there.................
“Cringe” message? It’s a superb and very true message.
“when the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace.”
Original — “We look forward to the time when the power of love will replace the love of power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace.”
British Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone
Too bad didn’t fall.
