BRUSSELS, June 30 (Reuters) - The European Union has transferred €3.9 billion ($4.44 billion) to Ukraine to ‌finance drone procurement, the Commission said on Tuesday. The disbursement is part of a €90 billion loan approved by the EU earlier this year. This disbursement follows the Commission's first €3.2 billion instalment to Ukraine made on June 25 to help with the country's government financing. "We are releasing a first ‌tranche of €3.9 billion for advanced drone technology to strengthen Ukraine's defence. And more will follow. These investments will help Ukraine protect its citizens, defend its sovereignty, and reinforce Europe's security," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a statement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Netanyahu have met in person in Jerusalem Jan 2020 and in Kyiv Aug 2019. They also maintain contact via phone calls, with a notable conversation Jan 2025 regarding bilateral relations and regional matters.

Zelensky has famously stated that he wants Ukraine’s
security and military funding to follow the “Israel model”.

He has used this comparison and expects the U.S. and allies to provide Ukraine with weapons, training, and financing on a long-term basis....... similar to the $300 billion tax dollars US-Israel relationship.

Zelensky has repeatedly urged Western nations to provide the same level of Israeli direct defense to protect Ukraine’s skies. He has also stated that Ukraine plans to model its heavily-fortified, post-war society after Israel.

In addition to advocating for the funding model, Zelensky has also been highly critical of how the US Congress has sometimes divided aid bills between Israel and Ukraine, calling the political delays a “disgrace”.

Zelenskyy has said he wants his country to become a “’big Israel’.”

You can track future diplomatic engagements and read further about their past discussions through official reporting from outlets like Reuters or the Times of Israel.

Hey, the U.S. is also going bankrupt, but that hasn't stopped our government from doing deficit spending. Russia and YOU keep hoping that the EU was really going bankrupt. But don't look now, because, it's Russia that is actually bankrupt with a failed economy.

....and Vlad is still filling his pockets $$$ with energy revenue, I love it.

Yeah, Putin is using whatever revenue he gets from the Russian oil, to fill his pockets and build anti-missile defenses around his mansions, while his troops are dying by the thousands each day without the proper funding to get them fuel and food and shelter and personal payments and transportation and ammunition.

YOU find it 'funny', but the Russian troops who are dying in Ukraine, don't find it funny at all.

Drones save lives; the lives of Ukrainians. Duh!

And those drones also serve to keep Russia in a losing proposition. Duh!

Better to die of heat, than be subjected to genocide at the hands of Putin and Russian generals. Historically, More people have died from genocide than from heat. The 7 milliion Ukrainians who died in the 1930s, did not die from heat or cold; they died from the genocide which the Russians brought to them. Brutal regimes should be completely eradicated from the face of the globe; drones is just one means to that end.

YOu people are so dense.

It's not a 'loan'. It's payments for the sacrifices that Ukraine is making on behalf of all Europe. The Europeans are not the ones dying in Ukraine, and they are assisting Ukraine in keeping Russia from reaching any other place in Europe. Thus, no repayment will ever be made or even expected.

And, btw, even as Europe is suffering hard times lately, they are still much better off than Russia, which has had their economy turned to rubble. The Russian rubles are in the rubble.

The EU raised the money to send to Ukraine by selling the air conditioners they confiscated from their peasants to Saudi Arabia.

E3.9 billion will buy quite a lot in Ukraine. When I was there, albeit 10 years ago, off the high street you could buy a loaf of bread for 5 US cents given the exchange rate.
