LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The ongoing government shutdown is creating challenges for healthcare providers across the country as they enter flu season without access to updated federal disease tracking data. CDC dashboards that normally help healthcare providers prepare for illness spikes have not been updated for weeks due to the shutdown, forcing doctors to adjust their approach to patient care and illness prevention. Dr. Aaron Olson, medical director of La Crosse Area Neighborhood Family Clinics, said the missing data affects how his practice prepares for seasonal illness patterns. "Some of the ways we might use the CDC data is...

Behind the Sun, the comet appears to show signs of acceleration beyond what is expected by gravity. And for reasons not yet clear, it appears to have changed color. Ateam of astronomers monitoring interstellar object 3I/ATLAS have found something a little surprising. Our third confirmed interstellar visitor appears to have changed color for the second time. Meanwhile, another team finds that the comet has begun to show signs of non-gravitational acceleration as it approached perihelion. For those of you who haven't been following the story of our third interstellar visitor, on July 1, astronomers at the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert...

Ok, so the house members are back in their districts, at least in theory until Nov 17th, due to the house being in recess. The Government has been shutdown for more than a month. SNAP benefits are cut, etc.. lawsuits are flying.. Democrats are daily out there blaming it on Republicans, which is garbage, but that's what they are doing. So, where are the Republicans? Why are they NOT out at the Food Banks and distribution sites? Why is the RNC and the other GOP PACS not donating and redirecting funds to food banks and other things? They are home!...

Senate Republican support for eliminating the filibuster is picking up momentum after President Trump invited members of the Senate GOP conference to the White House for a breakfast meeting Wednesday to demand they reform the Senate’s rules in order to reopen the government. Changing the Senate’s rules with a simple majority vote to eliminate the 60-vote threshold for advancing most legislation would be very controversial — so controversial that it’s called the “nuclear option” — but a growing number of Senate Republicans are calling for a review of the matter. As of now, there aren’t 50 Republican senators who would...

6 November 2025Thursday of week 31 in Ordinary TimeHoly Cross Cathedral, Lagos, NigeriaReadings at MassLiturgical Colour: Green. Year: C(I).First readingRomans 14:7-12Each of us must give an account of himself to GodThe life and death of each of us has its influence on others; if we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord, so that alive or dead we belong to the Lord. This explains why Christ both died and came to life: it was so that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. This is also...

---SNIP--- Fasting is not just a trendy diet hack. It taps into a biological system honed over millennia to help humans cope with scarcity. When we eat regularly, the brain runs mostly on glucose, stored in the body as glycogen. But after about 12 hours without food, those glycogen stores dwindle. At that point, the body performs a clever metabolic switch: it begins breaking down fat into ketone bodies (for example, acetoacetate and beta-hydroxybutyrate), which provide an alternative fuel source. This metabolic flexibility, once crucial for our ancestors' survival, is now being linked to a host of health benefits.

Reports of Democrats’ death have been greatly exaggerated. As it turns out, it is the republic that is on life support. The recent elections have made that abundantly clear. To wit: Maine Democrat (and now Senator) Graham Platner won his race despite revelations that he has an actual Nazi tattoo, the “Totenkopf” (Death’s head), adorning his body. And a history of shameful online comments. Not only did Platner suffer no meaningful political consequences, he claims that his candidacy was "strengthened" by the disturbing revelations. He also stated that he found it “amusing” that some in the media thought his campaign...

The woman (Babylon) of Revelation 17 is described as “arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness:...and upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots.” Says the prophet: “I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.” Babylon is further declared to be “that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” Revelation 17:4-6, 18. The power that for so many...

The Islamification of the West is happening everywhere. Now that New Yorkers have elected a terrorist-sympathizing communist to run their city, I think we can all agree that the barbarians are inside the city gates. Along with Mayor Sadiq Khan of London, Mayor Zohran Mamdani of New York City represents the foreign face of major Western metropolises. What’s next? Should we expect an imam to take over Vatican City as the next pope? Anybody who experienced the 9/11 Islamic terror attacks firsthand should feel queasy about what just happened in New York. Anybody who sacrificed years to fight Islamic extremism...

Senate Democrats feel confident after Tuesday’s election that they have the advantage over Republicans in the government shutdown battle and are pointing to President Trump’s statement that Republicans are getting “killed” politically as a big reason to stand their ground. A bipartisan deal hashed out by centrist Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Appropriations Committee to reopen the government as soon as this week now appears stalled after Democrats won sweeping victories in New Jersey, Virginia and California. Democratic sources say they do not expect a bipartisan deal to reopen the government to be unveiled this week. One Democratic senator...

'Two messages, first one saying ''I just killed Iris and the kids''. The second message was ''with a gun.'' I knew that man was very unstable. I knew he had a very, very dark side. I didn't know it was this dark,' Wogas told the outlet. According to Dusterhoft, Ross was fixated on his celebrity persona, fueled by weight-loss motivational speeches, but relied on his estranged wife, Iris, to bankroll the lifestyle he craved. Then, she filed for divorce. 'His five minutes of daytime TV fame was up. The money, the success - all a façade. And so was the...

SANFORD, Fla. - A Florida man who killed his 18-year-old girlfriend and their unborn son after she refused to get an abortion is facing the death penalty. Donovan Faison, 23, was convicted last week in the first-degree murder of Kaylin Fiengo, of killing an unborn child and of burglary with a firearm. The jury later voted 11-1 to sentence Faison to death, the Office of the State Attorney said in a news release Friday. Faison shot Fiengo in the head as she sat in her car at Coastline Park in Sanford in 2022. Investigators discovered a bullet casing and an...

A Democrat trans activist has won the mayoral race in Downingtown, PA, a small town of about 9,000 people in Chester County, west of Philadelphia. Deuso defeated Republican Richard Bryant. Erica Deuso, who is openly transgender, had recently suggested armed violence against the federal government after footage came out of illegal immigrants being detained. “Tonight, the numbers are clear,” Deuso stated early Wednesday morning, according to WHYY. “We won. Voters chose hope, decency, and a community where every neighbor matters. I am honored to be elected as Pennsylvania’s first openly transgender mayor. I carry that responsibility with care and with...

Three Chinese nationals working at a University of Michigan research lab were hit with federal charges Tuesday related to an alleged conspiracy to smuggle biological material into the United States for China. The charges are the latest in a series of cases tied to the Ann Arbor, Mich. school that have raised concerns about the threat of biological terrorism emanating from China. “Allegedly attempting to smuggle biological materials under the guise of ‘research’ is a serious crime that threatens America’s national and agricultural security,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement. “We will remain vigilant to threats like these...
