Classic cinematics from first-rank filmmakers. Michael Powell’s original version of Gone to Earth is another unique Archers creation. Jennifer Jones finally gets to chew on a character role with grit, as a natural virgin/vixen misunderstood by contrasting suitors. This is one beautiful production, one that will thrill Powell & Pressburger fans eager to see all of his films. Michael Powell’s camera pulls meaning from images of landscapes and nature, expressing the natural urges that steer his heroine in directions not likely to be appreciated by the stuffy society of 1897. Jennifer Jones is a special creature here. Away from...

Fenway Park's annual Pride Night has been heavily criticized online in the days since a group of drag queens were welcomed on the field in Boston before the Red Sox hosted the Tampa Bay Rays. 'Gross' and 'disgusting' were just two of the judgements posted on X, where many others joined in the attack. 'Be more like the @Rangers,' another added, referring to the only Major League Baseball team without a Pride Month celebration. Several commenters questioned the logic behind MLB events aimed at including LBGTQ+ fans, arguing they're not really baseball's target audience. However, a 2021 survey by the...

Man, how can you not love this from The Dodger's star Clayton Kershaw? Last night was "pride night" for the Dodgers and they and the Giants wore "pride" themed rainbow logos on their ballcaps for the game. But Clayton Kershaw decided that he wasn't just going to go along with it.

Three Point Thread Today's SITREP focuses on regional and global responses to the Israel-Iran Conflict Three Point Thread Post #1 An overnight development: Iranian airspace was officially closed, yet a 747 takes off from Tehran International Airport, then immediately goes dark. Destination unknown. So what? When a corrupt authoritarian tyrannical regime dies, among the first actions is for those leaders and their families who have gotten rich off the backs and persecution of their own people move to their alternative palaces, dachas, or homes. This plane has a good chance of having a lot of Gucci and convertible currency on...

In this update to our original video on Air India Flight 171, Captain Steeeve revisits his initial theory—and sets the record straight. Previously, Steeeve leaned heavily into the possibility that the pilot may have accidentally retracted the flaps instead of the landing gear during the takeoff roll, resulting in a critical loss of lift. But new, higher-quality footage tells a different story. In this video, we clearly see the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) deployed—something that only happens in the event of significant power loss. This changes everything. Steeeve breaks down what the RAT deployment means, walks through the new evidence...

This was Preston Davey. A one-year-old from England. The baby boy had been placed in the care of two gay men who were in the proces of adopting him. Within months, the men raped Preston to death. The gay men, named Jamie Varley (a head teacher!) and John McGowan-Fazakerley, both worked with children and also face a list of other charges, including possession of CSAM. They will appear in court tomorrow. Rest in peace Preston. I hope one day you and the many victims of these horrific crimes will finally be enough to stop these cruel sacrifices on the altar...

The fact that the "No Kings" rally's are full of old white people and the #Army250 parade crowd is full of young mulit-ethnic families really tells you which way the arrow is pointing.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said Sunday that ongoing unrest, which she blamed partly on President Donald Trump’s “federal escalation,” meant that Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers would no longer operate checkpoints to protect homes in the burn zone of the Palisades Fire. On Saturday, police checkpoints that had protected local properties from looting sine the January 7 fire, were removed, and Pacific Palisades was reopened to non-residents. The Westside Current, citing the Los Angeles Times, reported that LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell had said the “No Kings” protests that had been planned for Saturday — and which descended into...

Compact machine turns air into ready-to-use gasoline Transforming clean fuel production with modular direct air capture technology Recently, Aircela, a fuel company headquartered in New York, publicly demonstrated a machine in Manhattan that produces gasoline directly from air. Aircela's technology combines direct air capture with on-site fuel synthesis, providing fossil-free gasoline that is fully compatible with existing engines and infrastructure. The technology is based on direct air capture research, notably the work of physicist Klaus Lackner (shown on the left below), and is designed for easy installation in residential, commercial and industrial settings. The process begins by drawing in ambient...

Mexico Immigration Laws Penalties. We are all well aware of the various laws and penalties involving illegally crossing the border from Mexico into the United States; but what are the laws and penalties involved with illegally crossing the border from the United States into Mexico? Simply put, illegal immigration is a felony under Mexican law. In fact, Article 123 of the General Law of Population mandates that “a penalty of up to two years in prison and a fine of three hundred to five hundred thousand pesos will be imposed on the foreigner who enters the country illegally.” Mexican Immigration...

...into the talks with two excellent leaders who were able to quickly make a decision and STOP! Also, during my first term, Serbia and Kosovo were going at it hot and heavy, as they have for many decades, and this long time conflict was ready to break out into WAR. I stopped it (Biden has hurt the longer term prospects with some very stupid decisions, but I will fix it, again!). Another case is Egypt and Ethiopia, and their fight over a massive dam that is having an effect on the magnificent Nile River. There is peace, at least for...

Ari Fleischer, former press secretary for President George W. Bush, on Sunday called conservative commentator Tucker Carlson a “phony” for accusing the Trump administration of being “complicit in the act of war” in supporting Israel in its conflict with Iran. “I’ve known Tucker for 25 years, when he co-hosted an MSNBC show with Paul Begala. Tucker doesn’t have a consistent thought in his head, except self-promotion,” Mr. Fleischer posted Sunday on X with past videos of Mr. Carlson calling for Iran’s destruction. “Now he says that’s a warmonger. He’s a modern carnival barker.” -snip- On Sunday, Mr. Fleischer’s post on...

Getting older might seem like a slow, gradual process – but that's not always the case, research suggests. In fact, if you wake up one morning, look in the mirror, and wonder if your aging somehow accelerated, you might not be imagining things. According to a recent study into the molecular changes associated with aging, humans experience two drastic lurches forward, one at the average age of 44, and the other at the average age of 60. "We're not just changing gradually over time; there are some really dramatic changes," geneticist Michael Snyder of Stanford University explained in August 2024...

Democrat Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass used Father’s Day not to honor the importance of fatherhood or the role of strong families, but to push a political message about illegal immigration. Instead of acknowledging the responsibility that comes with breaking U.S. law, Bass focused her message on sympathy for children whose fathers were deported for being in the country illegally. Her statement ignored the legal consequences of entering or remaining in the U.S. unlawfully and painted deportation as an unjust act rather than a necessary part of enforcing immigration law. “This morning, I’m thinking about the children in Los Angeles...
