A new round of trade negotiations between the United States and China has started in London, with both sides trying to preserve a fragile truce brokered last month. The fresh talks were announced last week after a long-anticipated phone call between US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, which appeared to ease tensions that erupted over the past month following a surprise agreement in Geneva. In May, the two sides agreed to drastically roll back tariffs on each other’s goods for an initial 90-day period. The mood was upbeat. However, sentiment soured quickly over two major sticking points:...

Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) said Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that President Donald Trump’s administration has an “obsession of being cruel and aggressive.” Padilla said, “This administration has been anything but forthcoming and transparent with information as it pertains to immigration enforcement, not just here in Los Angeles, but since he took office on January 20th and everywhere in between. So it is absolutely frustrating.” He continued, “To say that they’re only targeting violent criminals is false. That’s what has so many people upset. And that and they’re choosing to ignore due process in a lot of these cases as...

A tragic shooting near the iconic Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas has left two people dead, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). Authorities were quick to clarify that the shooting did not take place inside a casino, and urged the public to avoid the area as the investigation continues. During a press briefing in the early hours of Monday, Undersheriff Andrew Walsh confirmed that two individuals had died as a result of the shooting and that one suspect is currently in custody. “We believe we know who the suspect is,” Walsh stated, indicating that law enforcement is...

Los Angeles was waking up on Monday to another day of high tensions with Donald Trump’s administration after a weekend of protests over immigration raids in the city, with the president controversially ordering in the national guard and the governor of California saying the state planned to sue in response. Federal agents the day before clashed with demonstrators in Los Angeles as police used teargas and “less-lethal munitions” to disperse crowds of people who were mostly peacefully protesting against immigration raids across the city and Trump’s deployment of the California national guard against the will of Governor Gavin Newsom and...

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum criticized the ICE raids that catalyzed days-long protests in Los Angeles, saying the city "wouldn't be what it is" without migrants. "They migrate out of need and send resources to their families from there," the president added. "Mexicans will always have our backing and demand that their human rights be respected. They must know that, should they wish to return to Mexico, we will welcome them with open arms." The White House said it is circumventing a law usually needed to deploy National Guard troops to a state, which requires a state governor to request it...

Russia launched what Ukraine said would be the largest air assault of the war to date, with nearly 500 missiles and drones airborne, prompting Warsaw to scramble NATO air assets to protect its airspace. Ukraine’s air force said Russia launched 479 drones, four ballistic missiles, and 16 cruise missiles against its territory overnight. If the figures are accurate, it would make Sunday evening the biggest Russian air raid against Ukraine in the course of the over-three-year war to date, and underlines the ability of the combatants to sustain ever-larger drone attacks as the conflict goes on, given Russia launched another...

Now, a federal investigation has found that officials at the nonprofit in charge of coordinating organ donations in Kentucky ignored signs of growing alertness not only in that patient but also in dozens of other potential donors. The investigation examined about 350 cases in Kentucky over the past four years in which plans to remove organs were ultimately canceled. It found that in 73 instances, officials should have considered stopping sooner because the patients had high or improving levels of consciousness. Although the surgeries didn’t happen, the investigation said multiple patients showed signs of pain or distress while being readied...

A group of Dutch citizens staged an unauthorized border control operation this weekend between Ter Apel and the German village of Rütenbrock, citing frustration with what they describe as uncontrolled illegal immigration.Wearing reflective clothing and wielding torches, the group of around 12 men began stopping vehicles on Saturday evening along the N366, a key route between Germany and the Netherlands. The vigilantes, who pulled cars over and even inspected trunks, say they took action because authorities are failing to secure the border and stem the flow of asylum seekers entering the country. “Nothing is happening. Then we’ll do it ourselves,” said...

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller addressed claims there’s “pork” in the One Big Beautiful Bill, telling Salem radio host Charlie Kirk such rumors are false. "There’s no pork in the bill," he said. "The bill has been public for weeks. Every single provision is just one campaign pledge, one promise, one campaign vow after another. The only new spending in the bill is to secure the homeland of the United States and save American sovereignty — fully paid for, by the way, by increased visa fees on foreigners."He explained further:The 2017 Trump Tax Cuts were rightly hailed...

SUNNY HOSTIN: Can I say something? Because, you know, they keep on talking about criminals and immigrants being criminals. And I just want people to understand what the facts are and the stats are, is that undocumented immigrants are much less likely to have committed crimes than American citizens. American citizens commit more crimes than anyone who is undocumented. I also want to make the point that an undocumented immigrant is not a criminal because he or she is undocumented. That is a civil offense. So to call people illegal is in and of itself, I think xenophobic and racist

We might need to bring in Bill Murray—the man whose 1979 SNL skit made "Quien Es Mas Macho?" famous—to judge this one. Today's Morning Joe played clips of NBC/MSNBC correspondent Jacob Soboroff speaking with Trump border czar Tom Homan and California Gov. Gavin Newsom regarding the Trump administration's response to the rioting in Los Angeles over ICE's efforts to arrest illegal aliens. Soboroff mentioned to Homan threats that have been made to arrest anyone who stands in the way of enforcement operations, and asked if that applies to LA Mayor Bass and Newsom. Homan's succinct response: "I'll say it about...

During the Istanbul talks between Russia and Ukraine, when presented with Moscow’s demand that Kiev’s troops must withdraw from territory of the four regions that they have partially conquered (Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporozhie and Kherson), the Ukrainian delegation reacted with a strong rejection of this point. It’s been widely reported that, at this point, Russian negotiators warned their foes: ‘Next time, it won’t be four regions, but six or eight’. That could, of course, be nothing but bragging, except that today the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that units of the 90th Tank Division have reached & crossed the western border...

I checked my illegal alien sympathy meter this morning. This is what it indicated Like probably most Americans, I have had enough. I want them all out now. The anti-ICE protests in California have exposed them for what they are. Illegal aliens are poison. This is what they are and what they want. This is what they are. Gavin Newsom says this is "manufactured": Felon that should be charged with attempted murder, hurls rocks at Border Patrol and unmarked Federal vehicles leaving Paramount California. pic.twitter.com/sXO5MvrU8p — Kevin Dalton (@TheKevinDalton) June 7, 2025They invade. Just one in four Catholic priests and Mainline Protestant pastors in the United States say they're certain that Adam and Eve were real people. In contrast, 80% of Evangelical pastors and 89% of black Protestant clergy affirm this belief with certainty. Data from the National Survey of Religious Leaders reveal significant differences among clergy in their core theological beliefs, including their views on the Bible, Hell, miracles, and the existence of God, as noted by Graphs About Religion on Substack. When asked whether they “definitely believe” Adam and Eve were historical figures, the numbers diverged sharply across denominations, dropping to 25%...

I left California in 2018 after having lived there since 1968. Many were doing the same then. I have written about this move many times in books, articles, blogs and on this Substack. The subject has started to bore me. I didn’t want to hear about California. I barely commented about the fires that were so mishandled by the state and city’s incompetent leadership. But with the demonstrations of the last few days, the protestors blocking the 101 as I type, burning cars and pelting police, I cannot hold back. President Trump has done the right thing calling in the...

Remember the dark days of the Biden years, when the economy felt like it was sputtering along and every other job created seemed to be on the government payroll? Well, there's good news. Things have changed completely under President Donald Trump's second term. The latest numbers are nothing short of phenomenal, especially if you're a fan of actual, you know, private sector job growth. The White House wasted no time touting the recent jobs report, and who can blame it? The contrast is stark. The U.S. job market continues to defy expectations under President Trump. In May alone, the economy...
