The Chavista regime of Nicolás Maduro is playing with fire and knows it! US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a stern warning yesterday from Guyana: any aggression against this country or ExxonMobil's operations in the Essequibo will have "serious consequences" for Caracas. In a press conference alongside Guyanese President Irfaan Ali, Rubio didn't mince words: "It would be a very bad day for the Venezuelan regime, a very bad week, and it wouldn't end well." The message is clear: the US will not tolerate the bravado of a declining leftist dictator. Maduro, the tyrant who has plunged Venezuela into...

Germany's Allianz Global Investors has dropped two exclusions blocking its sustainable funds from investing in defence, becoming one of the first major European asset managers to change their policies to help finance the region's rearmament. AGI wrote to its clients late last week to advise that its sustainable funds could now buy into companies that earned more than 10% of their revenue from military equipment and services. AGI, part of insurer Allianz (ALVG.DE), opens new tab, manages about 570 billion euros ($615.77 billion) in assets. The changes come amid a broader drive by European investors to reconsider their policies on...

The Numbers: Liberals enter uncharted territory It’s clear enough that Mark Carney’s Liberals would be the favourites to win this election if it were held today. But as support for the party in parts of the country grows to levels not seen in decades, just where those Liberal seat gains will happen is tough to predict. On this episode of The Numbers, Philippe J. Fournier and I discuss how the electoral map is shifting. We also chat about whether or not Jagmeet Singh’s New Democrats can beat expectations and if there are any signs that Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives...

In a survey of 475 Artificial Intelligence (AI) researchers, 76% said that as currently practiced, AI research was “unlikely” or even “very unlikely” to achieve Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). AGI is the hypothetical milestone where machines have advanced enough in order to learn as well or better than can humans. Thus, cold water is being thrown on predictions made early in the AI boom that current AI models only need more data, hardware, energy and money to eventually reach the goal of surpassing human intelligence. But current state-of-the-art AI models aren’t making much progress. In fact, most researchers from the...

VIDEOThe left is doing themselves no favors by putting themselves out there, apparently every Saturday, for the "Tesla Takedowns." All it does is further expose themselves to the public as mental cases as you can see in the compendium of videos from their March 29 protests against mental health. Despite the trip down Derangement Lane, this video ends on an upbeat note with a video clip from a normal person.

President Donald Trump endorsed two Republicans ahead of Tuesday’s special elections in Florida’s 1st and 6th Congressional Districts, urging residents to get out and vote so Republicans can continue to secure their majority in the House. Florida’s 1st Congressional District is a race between Republican Jimmy Patronis and Democrat Gay Valimont, who are both vying for former Congressman Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) seat. “Jimmy Patronis, Chief Financial Officer and Fire Marshall for the Great State of Florida, is running an incredible Campaign for Congress in Florida’s 1st Congressional District!” Trump said on Truth Social, describing him as a “wonderful friend” to...

A bombshell report from a clean energy group admitted that shifting to solar and wind may mean chaos for New York’s power grid as the state’s green energy law creates hurdles for cost and reliability. The report from the New York Affordable Clean Power Alliance, which represents solar and wind energy firms, noted that the state’s timetable to phase out energy generated by fossil fuel is unrealistic — and even dangerous. “The New York City area is forecasted to experience a generation shortfall starting in 2033, driven by an increase in peak demand and the planned retirement of existing dispatchable...

Does the Synod’s ‘Ecclesial Assembly’ Mirror Anglicanism’s Model and Undermine Episcopal Authority? As the Vatican begins a three-year implementation phase of the Synod on Synodality, is the process — already criticized for flirting with Protestant ecclesiology — moving ever more toward a model of governance alien to the Catholic Church? On March 15, Cardinal Mario Grech, secretary-general of the General Secretariat of the Synod, announced that the “Accompaniment Process of the Implementation Phase of the Synod on Synodality” will culminate in October 2028, not in a synod of bishops but in something novel in Catholic Church governance: an “ecclesial assembly” where...

There is a major story developing on Capitol Hill after House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer, R-Ky, revealed that a long-withheld report from the Biden Administration directly contradicted the claims of climate change used to limit increased U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. The suggestion is that this was an knowing effort to cap carbon admissions rather than carbon emissions. The impact that new U.S. LNG exports have on the environment and the economy was reviewed by U.S. Energy Department scientists and completed by September 2023. It appears that neither President Biden nor Secretary Jennifer Granholm liked...

French politician Marine Le Pen and eight other members of her right-wing party were found guilty of embezzling public funds on Monday, and she herself was barred from running for public office. The French court did not immediately announce how long Le Penn will be ineligible for office, and she stormed out of the courtroom before he finished reading her sentence. She is a top candidate to run for president in 2027, and Le Pen has said that prohibiting her from running in that election would be "political death." Le Pen has argued that such a sentence would also effectively...

Hordes of hoodlums vandalized three police cars — including smashing windows and jumping on at least one vehicle — early Sunday during a wild car meet-up in Queens, according to police and footage of the chaos. The bedlam happened along Rockaway Boulevard in a commercial area of Ozone Park as rowdy brutes engulfed the police cars responding to disorder around 1 a.m., police and law enforcement sources said. Other rabble-rousers then jumped on top of the car and threw another traffic cone at it before the vehicle — with its sirens blaring — pulled away, footage shows. Jaw-dropping video shows...

A majority of Americans support President Trump’s approach to deportation, according to a new CBS/YouGov poll. 58 percent of Americans approve of the Trump administration's program to deport illegal immigrants who are in the US. Support for Trump's deportation efforts has held steady in recent weeks, as Americans remain generally supportive of Trump's plans to carry out immigration policies he proposed while running for president. The vast majority of Americans agree that federal judges should be allowed to review Trump's policies, however. This comes as several judges have implemented legal roadblocks that have hindered the Trump administration from carrying out...
