A bombshell report from a clean energy group admitted that shifting to solar and wind may mean chaos for New York’s power grid as the state’s green energy law creates hurdles for cost and reliability.
The report from the New York Affordable Clean Power Alliance, which represents solar and wind energy firms, noted that the state’s timetable to phase out energy generated by fossil fuel is unrealistic — and even dangerous.
“The New York City area is forecasted to experience a generation shortfall starting in 2033, driven by an increase in peak demand and the planned retirement of existing dispatchable generation,” the report said.

Think about living in NYC among all those people, in the middle of a hot summer day/night and the power goes out, I’m sure everyone will understand and remain calm and peaceful.
You are the carbon they want to reduce.
A small price for New Yorkers to pay to signal their virtue.
The left thinks chaos gives them more power.
I saw what you did there! Nice one!
Clean energy group says going green may mean chaos — but it’s OK because they know they’re right.
Trump Admin says tariffs may cause some initial disruption — but it will work out better for everyone in the end.
One of these statements makes sense to me.
So, this clean energy group is AGAINST burning Tesla autos because of our environment?
is give chaos a chance
So couple of “scientists” found a few brain cells and discovered the obvious. You can’t run a complex, modern, first world city and state on unreliable solar and wind power. The laws of physics are a bitch. Of course the Gov. is still touting the fallacy of “reliable” solar and wind, like some kind of magic talisman. For a peek at the future of New York, look to Germany which is becoming a second world country.
No one has the brains to sit down and read the new goals and see they’re Fantasy
Peter Zeihan(a liberal Geopolitics expert) pointed out the realities of so called Green Energy.
What works in Southern CA does not mean it will work in NY.
Some places get a lot more sun than others.
Some places get a lot more wind.
NY has plenty of water. It also has 200 years of methane. All they have to do is drill and frack.
Germany has neither. That is why they need to build new nuclear plants and not shut down the ones they have. The only alternative is their own coal or Russian gas.

The only thing that keeps the lights on in Germany, and the UK for that matter, is that they lean on their neighbors via interconnections to the EHV grid. When that happens the spot market cost of electricity goes up, particularly for the countries providing the supplemental power. This has caused a great deal of anger in said countries so much so that Norway has threatened to cut the interconnections to the UK and Germany. Because of the large, interconnected transmission system in the US, New York will simply lean on their neighbors when the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine with the attending increase in spot market prices for all concerned. I would submit that if NY is really serious about this net zero by 2040 nonsense then all access to the interconnected transmission grid should be severed. Let them get by on their own. It would be an interesting, and I would submit, enlightening experiment.
Hochul and company are trying to force everyone to install heat pumps. Good luck with that in Saranac Lake. They are in the dream it and it will happen stage. Wait till they see the rent increases in NYC resulting from this policy. Oh, and electric school bus mandates that are unaffordable and don’t work.
They’ve known this all along

New York City hasn't been a first world city in three quarters of a century.
NY State is run by stupid people.
I am so glad I moved out in 1985.
Banning Fracking was maybe the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Especially in a state that has so much natural gas
Heat pumps do not work when you need high BTUs. They are fine for super insulated houses or heating a house in the mid Atlantic area or further south.
Up north you need Natural gas or heating oil to generate higher BTUs.
All NY will do is force people to burn more firewood and wood pellets. That is what I did when heating oil got too high. I installed a Harman pellet insert.
