From curious hedgehogs to beautiful butterflies, gardens across the UK are regularly frequented by animals. But scientists have issued an urgent warning to gardeners, amid an influx of secret stowaways. Researchers from the University of Cambridge say that invasive species including snakes and lizards are slipping unnoticed into Britain in shipments of cut flowers and potted plants. Continental European snakes, geckos and Italian wall lizards are among the animals making their way over in potted olive trees destined for gardens and green spaces, according to the study. Worryingly, these creatures can cause extensive damage to food crops and the native...

A book classified by the CIA for more than 50 years contains a shocking theory about how the world will end. 'The Adam and Eve Story,' written by former US Air Force employee, UFO researcher and self-acclaimed psychic Chan Thomas, was written in 1966 but its publication was halted by the agency. It was quietly declassified in 2013, at least in part, but remained hidden in the CIA's database — until now. In the book, Thomas claims that every 6,500 years, a major disaster on the scale of the Biblical 'Great Flood' strikes the Earth. While experts debate the exact...

As President Biden prepares to vacate the White House accolades are pouring in for his performance. Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) asserted "he will go down as the greatest president we ever had. You know, I was the one who secured the Democratic nomination for him in 2020. That was one of the greatest accomplishments of my career. I think President Biden himself would admit he isn't a great orator, but he sure was a great doer of things while in office." "He did the big things that Trump would never have done," the Congressman pointed out. "He saved the nation...

Dismayed by the amount of support the TikTok Ban is getting and a Unanimous decision by the men and women in black robes further alarms me and will just embolden the Feds and Congress to engage in more online censorship. How come some (most?) Freepers don't see this? Are you still watching the networks and believing the foreign entity stuff? You understand that the legislation is broader than that?

Every year, thousands of climbers test their skills on Mount Shasta, California’s fifth-highest peak and the second-highest volcano in the Cascade Range. In 2023, around 5,000 to 6,000 people attempted the roughly 14,180-foot climb to the summit, with about half reaching the top. In December, rangers from the U.S. Forest Service encountered an unexpected climber: a goose attempting to summit Mount Shasta. According to a Jan. 12 post on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest’s Facebook page, Forest Service rangers Nick Meyers and Eric Falconer of the Mount Shasta Avalanche Center were on routine patrol when they came upon “their first attempted...

KYIV — Barely six months after his landslide victory in July, Keir Starmer has been hammered in the polls, beaten up by the financial markets and faced demands from the world’s richest man to be jailed. Swapping the political battles of Westminster for an actual warzone this week, the British prime minister found inspiration in the resolve of the Ukrainian people, and his stoical host, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In an exclusive interview with POLITICO, Starmer scotched speculation about an early election, stating clearly that the next one won’t come before mid-2029. And he declared that he intends to win it and...

Unfair. Astonishing. Un-American. That is how tech entrepreneur Jeff Atwood sees the staggering wealth inequality in the U.S. today. In response, he and his family have pledged to give away half their wealth within five years, starting with $1 million gifts to eight nonprofits this month. His warning about the dangers of growing inequity was echoed by outgoing President Joe Biden in his final primetime speech Wednesday. “Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get...
