On the subject of historical inaccuracies in his biopic Napoleon (2023), director Ridley Scott told the Times of London, “When I have issues with historians, I ask: ‘Excuse me, mate were you there? No? Well, shut the f*** up then.’” It’s the kind of thing you get to say if you’re making Gladiator (2000), a truly masterful revenge fantasy draped loosely over some half-remembered facts and figures from ancient Rome. Less so when you’re making Napoleon, a turgid and badly edited live-action Wikipedia entry shot in a color scheme I can only describe as mudscale. Scott’s latest, Gladiator II, is...

“What do you think Donald Trump would make of Winston Churchill?” That out-of-the-blue question was asked the other day at Churchill’s home, Chartwell, outside London, where I was speaking about the former British prime minister’s relationships with Franklin Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower during the 1940s and 1950s. Haltingly, with some reluctance to discuss American politics in such a historic setting, I responded that Trump prominently displayed a bust of Churchill in the Oval Office throughout his previous White House term. Churchill’s face of bulldog, never-surrender tenacity often appeared over the president’s left shoulder in photographs and television reports. The presence...

The left has become a modern version of the Puritans. Strange, isn’t it, how some people can light up a room? And then there are those who enter like a soggy dishrag, wringing out all vitality and joy until even the pumpkin pie wants to surrender. John Steinbeck nailed it: “Such people spread a grayness in the air about them.” These days, that grayness comes accessorized with a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certificate and a handy list of reasons why your Thanksgiving dinner was actually an act of oppression. Yes, the militant left’s DEI-industrial complex was working overtime this year,...

WASHINGTON -- President-elect Donald Trump has picked Kash Patel to serve as FBI director, turning to a fierce loyalist to upend America's premier law enforcement agency and rid the government of perceived "conspirators." It's the latest bombshell Trump has thrown at the Washington establishment and a test for how far Senate Republicans will go in confirming his nominees. "I am proud to announce that Kashyap "Kash" Patel will serve as the next Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation," Trump posted Saturday night on Truth Social. "Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and 'America First' fighter who has spent his...

There are over 58,000 illegal migrants who are convicted felons or facing criminal charges roaming NYC — and close to 670,000 across the country, startling new data obtained by The Post shows. Of the 759,218 illegal-border crossers living in the Big Apple the feds were aware of as of Nov. 17, a jaw-dropping 58,626 — 7.7% — were either previously convicted of crimes or had criminal charges pending, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency data. And of the 58,626 migrants with rap sheets, 1,053, nearly 2%, are “suspected or known gang members,” according to the agency. Rep. Nicole...

Democrats are trying to figure out how they lost massive numbers of working class voters in historically blue areas across the country — but the evidence shows that the party simply left them behind. USA Today interviewed multiple former Democrats in the liberal enclave of Massachusetts who cast their votes for President-elect Donald Trump in the recent election, and their main reason was the economy. Mark Callahan, a 67-year-old from Lynn, a suburb of Boston, voted Democrat in nearly every presidential election prior to this year. Now, he said he hopes that Trump will “make a change.”

A clip from Billy Bob Thornton’s new show "Landman" went viral on X for slamming the use of renewable energy like wind turbines, that are intended to combat the effects of climate change. "They use clean energy to power the oil wells?" Kayla Wallace’s character said in the scene of the show. "They use alternative energy. There is nothing clean about this," Billy Bob Thornton’s character said. "Please, Mr. Oilman, tell me how the wind is bad for the environment?" Kayla Wallace replied. Thornton’s "Tommy Norris" responded, "You have any idea how much diesel will have to burn to mix...

The lack of manpower has developed into an even greater problem for the Ukrainian troops than the lack of missiles, drones, artillery, or any other weapons systems. Not only death and the wounded leave Kiev’s troops lacking strength, but the deserters have become a major issue.Desertion is ‘starving’ the army and crippling its battle plans.Associated Press reported:“Facing every imaginable shortage, tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops, tired and bereft, have walked away from combat and front-line positions to slide into anonymity, according to soldiers, lawyers and Ukrainian officials. Entire units have abandoned their posts, leaving defensive lines vulnerable and accelerating territorial...

According to the lawsuit, the three asset managers acquired substantial stockholdings in coal companies, and then used their influence to pressure the companies to adopt ESG goals and reduce output. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, along with 10 other state attorney generals, have filed a lawsuit against BlackRock, State Street Corporation, and Vanguard Group, three of the largest institutional investors in the world. The lawsuit filed Tuesday alleges the firms conspired to artificially constrict the market for coal through anti-trade practices. “Texas will not tolerate the illegal weaponization of the financial industry in service of a destructive, politicized ‘environmental’ agenda....

Deep state whistleblower Edward Snowden may be getting a new lease on life. The famous fugitive, who has been living in Russia since 2013 after leaking classified National Security Agency documents showing the US was engaged in a massive surveillance program, has been a cause célèbre among left-wing and free speech activists, but has received a chillier reception from Republicans. But Snowden has some powerful allies in President-elect Trump’s cabinet, insiders told The Post. Trump’s pick for director of national intelligence, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, co-sponsored a resolution in September 2020 calling on the United States to drop all charges against...

President Joe Biden has decided to take advantage of Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales to purchase an anti-Israel book for himself. On Friday, President Biden was observed exiting the Nantucket Bookworks bookstore in Massachusetts with the book The Hundred-Year War on Palestine: A History of Colonialism and Resistance, 1917-2017 in hand. The book was written by Rashid Khalidi, a professor at Columbia University. In his book, Khalidi accuses Israel of occupying and imposing a "colonial regime" on the Palestinians. "The modern history of Palestine can best be understood in these terms: a colonial war waged against the indigenous population by...

Former female sports greats, media figures, and even a conservative lawmaker tore into a recent New York Times article for referring to women as “non-transgender women.” Tennis legend Martina Navratilova and other prominent people blasted the piece online for the characterization, stating the outlet should just be referring to biological women as women. “NYT- you stink. We are women, NOT TRANSGENDER WOMEN. Just WOMEN will do in the future,” Navratilova wrote on the social media platform on Friday. The Times published an article Thursday which documented the inner turmoil of a women’s college volleyball team – the San Jose State...

Democratic strategist James Carville said that new audits are necessary to bring transparency to the Democratic Party’s fundraising efforts after Vice President Kamala Harris burned through a historic amount of money during her unsuccessful campaign. The vice president’s campaign raised at least $1.5 billion during her roughly three-month-long bid for the White House. After losing the election to President-elect Donald Trump earlier this month, Harris ended her campaign with a reported $20 million in debt. The news had Democrats reeling.

Coronary artery calcium (CAC) scores have become a non-invasive way for physicians to easily determine how much plaque has built up inside a patient's coronary arteries, but the question has been how accurate the score is in identifying women, as well as men, who are at high risk for a heart attack or death. A study finds coronary artery calcium scores are not only highly effective in identifying those at risk for future heart attacks, but also for death, and risk prediction was found to be as good in women as in men. Results found that in addition to predicting...

When Hurricane Helene struck in late September, it flooded the largest IV fluid factory in the United States. The Baxter International facility in western North Carolina had been producing 1.5 million IV bags a day, 60 percent of the nation’s supply. The company immediately began rationing its products, and the shortage sent ripples through the health-care industry. IV saline and fluids with carbohydrates are used regularly in hospitals and other clinical settings, both for hydration and to deliver medications. The shortage has left facilities scrambling to figure out the best use of the IV fluid bags they have. But some...

The treatment landscape for patients with prostate cancer, especially individuals with advanced disease, has dramatically changed in recent years. However, aside from drug or hormonal therapies, other targets to treat prostate cancer are still necessary to prolong life and slow the progression of this potentially lethal disease. A study found inhibition of the sterol regulatory element of binding (SREB) can reinduce sensitivity to the drug docetaxel, commonly used to treat prostate and other cancers. These findings show promise to improve the efficacy of docetaxel-based chemotherapy in patients with prostate cancer. Combining docetaxel with second-generation hormonal therapy is a novel treatment...
