A Catholic priest who gave a benediction during former President Donald Trump’s rally Saturday told people they needed to pray for Trump moments before Trump was shot and wounded. Father Jason Charron, a Ukrainian Catholic pastor, told CNA a group of about 15 to 20 people called him over to a barricade within the rally site as he was trying to leave shortly before Trump began speaking. “I said to them: I prayed for him and his safety, but that they have to pray, as well, because there are people who want to kill him,” Father Charron said in a...

It was the first attempted assassination of a current or former American president in the era of social media, and the conspiracy theories, finger-pointing and campaign gamesmanship moved at the speed of the internet, far faster than the actual facts of what transpired at former President Donald J. Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pa. The assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963 left the nation in bewildered grief. Conspiracy theories would proliferate, of course, and Abraham Zapruder’s film of Kennedy’s last moments would be studied for decades. But first, there was mourning. The assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and the...

Cue the liberals who are going to try and spin the narrative to keep former President Donald Trump from looking like a victim. Actress Amanda Seales is making a wild accusation, accusing Trump of staging the assassination attempt on him. “That sh*t was more staged than a Tyler Perry production of Madea Runs for President,” she claimed. “I lived in Harlem long enough to know gunshots do not sound like making popcorn on the stove.”

Daily Readings from the USCCB Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick—no food, no sack, no money in their belts. They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic. Mark 6:7–9If you felt called by God to go forth to another land to spread the Gospel message, you most likely would plan ahead and pack all that you needed for the journey. You would bring extra clothing, money, and various other provisions....

Preliminarily, let me say what I wrote yesterday: Trump’s near miss seems to have an element of Divine Providence to it, reminiscent of how George Washington invariably emerged from the heat of battle unscathed. Just sayin’. Now, to the topic at hand, which is the Secret Service’s performance before, during, and after the assassination attempt. It wasn’t good. Ironically, just yesterday, I finished reading Lee Child’s Without Fail, which was published in 2008. In it, Jack Reacher works with the female head of the Vice President’s Secret Service detail to help foil an assassination attempt. Unlike most Reacher novels, this...

Logan Paul called Donald Trump's reaction to his recent assassination attempt "the most gangster image of all time" and "the most badass thing" he's ever seen. Trump dodged a bullet at a rally in Pennsylvania, which grazed his right ear. He raised his fist in defiance, garnering support and admiration from followers, including Paul. Logan Paul's followers are supporting his praise for Trump, sharing their reactions on social media, while acknowledging the dangerous nature of the event. (snip) Taking to his X handle @LoganPaul, he tweeted the very image of Trump taken right after the attempt. In the image, Trump...

BUTLER, Pa. — On the heels of an apparent attempt to kill him, former President Donald Trump called Sunday for unity and resilience as shocked leaders across the political divide recoiled from the shooting that left him wounded but “fine” and the gunman and a rally-goer dead. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee said the upper part of his right ear was pierced in the shooting. His aides said he was in “great spirits” and doing well. Law enforcement officials told The Associated Press that bomb-making materials were found inside the vehicle of the man suspected in the Trump rally shooting....

Argentina’s president Javier Milei threw his full support behind Trump, who he called the “victim of a COWARDLY assassination attempt.” Milei also claimed that the shooting was part of a leftist agenda to keep Trump from securing another presidential term.

I was shocked that my pastor said nothing. It is a fairly conservative church in a very liberal, wealthy town full of influential people - many of them having some power to shape public discourse - not that those are necessarily church-goers. But I expected prayers for peace, for the safety of leaders and candidates, for us as a nation to handle disagreements with reason, fairness, gentleness.

Well, I guess the narrative has moved on to the next plot twist. As Joe Biden said just a few days ago:We're done talking about the debate. It's time to put Trump in the bullseye. It wasn't quite a bullseye: the bullet struck his ear.Which is to say the would-be assassin - one Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania - came within rather less than an inch of killing the Republican presidential nominee. From the intended target upon his discharge from hospital:I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that...

The US Secret Service has come under intense scrutiny for failing to prevent the attempted killing of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania.Former President and Republican frontrunner Donald Trump was injured at a Pennsylvania rally on July 13. The suspected gunman has been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old Bethel Park resident. "I don’t believe that he [Crooks] was a professional sniper, because for a professional sniper, 100 or 110 meters [the distance from the roof where the shot was taken to Trump] is not a [large] distance," Sergei Goncharov, president of the Association of...
