Some years back I watched a very profound docudrama on the imminent demise of Glen Campbell. If you've not watched it - do so ASAP.Campbell - like Biden will soon be - was in the end stages of severe dementia. He didn't know where he was most of the time, he couldn't remember the names of his children, he couldn't remember the words to Galveston and other hit songs he's sung thousands of times. He needed assistance with basic necessities of life.Yet his wife and handlers took him on a farewell tour. They put Campbell on stage before audiences who...

The fight for tradition after Vatican II is as old as the council itselfFollowing Vatican II to our present hour, writers and artists have rallied to the defense of tradition. By the time the Trump campaign blasted out the GOP’s 2024 platform early Monday afternoon, most people in Milwaukee had to ask themselves: what just happened? For the delegates, who were sideswiped by the unconventional, fast-tracked, secret process, the entire morning felt surreal. The outcome was so pre-determined, so tightly controlled that most of the men and women who traveled from the furthest corners of the country wondered what they were even doing there. While the RNC’s team and the Trump camp cheered the adoption of a platform they vowed would Make America Great Again, the mood on the ground...

A federal appeals court today said Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign and a liberal super PAC crossed federal election lines when they flaunted their coordination in a multimillion-dollar effort to defend the Democrat in her losing bid against Donald Trump. In the landmark decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit said Clinton and the super PAC Correct the Record improperly used an “internet exemption” to sidestep other restrictions to set up a “Benghazi Hearing War Room” and conduct a witch hunt of critics without reporting it as a campaign expense. Neither Clinton nor Correct the Record...

Explanation: These three bright nebulae are often featured on telescopic tours of the constellation Sagittarius and the crowded starfields of the central Milky Way. In fact, 18th century cosmic tourist Charles Messier cataloged two of them; M8, the large nebula above center, and colorful M20 below and left in the frame. The third emission region includes NGC 6559, right of M8 and separated from the larger nebula by a dark dust lane. All three are stellar nurseries about five thousand light-years or so distant. Over a hundred light-years across the expansive M8 is also known as the Lagoon Nebula. M20's...
