A long-running heat wave that has already shattered previous records across the U.S. persisted on Sunday, baking parts of the West with dangerous temperatures that caused the death of a motorcyclist in Death Valley and holding the East in its hot and humid grip. An excessive heat warning — the National Weather Service's highest alert — was in effect for about 36 million people, or about 10% of the population, said NWS meteorologist Bryan Jackson. Dozens of locations in the West and Pacific Northwest tied or broke previous heat records. That was certainly the case over the weekend: Many areas...

Two influential Democratic operatives are circulating a memo that lays out a plan for a “blitz primary” before the party’s convention in August to replace President Biden if he can be convinced to bow out, a new report says. Georgetown University law Professor Rosa Brooks, a volunteer policy adviser on Biden’s 2020 campaign, and venture capitalist Ted Dintersmith, a deep-pocketed donor, authored the detailed memo being distributed to party contributors, executive branch officials and the president’s campaign staff, Semafor reported Monday. “We can limp to shameful, avoidable democracy-ending defeat. Or Democrats can make this Our Finest Hour,” the memo says....

Republicans roundly mocked President Joe Biden on Monday for doing a “Morning Joe” interview by phone on MSNBC in which he defiantly vowed to stay in the presidential race. Biden, who is said to watch “Morning Joe” every morning, called into the show to renew his pledge after a total of nine Democrat lawmakers reportedly called for his resignation. “They’re big names! But I don’t care what those big names think,” Biden said when asked about his opposition. “I’m getting so frustrated by the elites … the elites in the party.” “All the data, all the data shows that...

Pro-abortion state Attorneys General (AGs) are suing pro-life pregnancy centers for “false and deceptive” marketing in places like New Jersey, New York, and California. City council ordinances have targeted pregnancy help centers as well, parroting the claims mouthed by a slew of pro-abortion organizations. They claim that these centers (which offer most, if not all, services for free, including baby items, parenting classes, and more) are lying to women, tricking them into keeping their babies, and deceiving them by connecting them with doctors who offer progesterone in an effort to counteract the effects of mifepristone (the first drug in the...

Schmidt thought this demonstrated that complex social organization and the performance of rituals actually predated permanent settlement and agriculture, and that the people who banded together and built the monumental structures were nomadic hunter-gatherers. He suggested that, eventually, the demands of gathering these nomads together in one place to carve and move the huge T-pillars and build the circular enclosures pushed them to take the next step and begin domesticating plants and animals in order to create a more dependable food supply. These innovations, he argued, spread from the hilltop throughout the region and eventually the globe. Ritual and religion,...

I don’t care if he’s pooped his pants. I don’t care if he can’t put a sentence together. Show me he can’t do the job, and then I’ll say, okay, maybe it’s time to go. Now, he had a bad night the first time that he went on...

My heart hurts when I hear the hatred some Americans have for their own country I was born in Iran, and as a young student I joined the masses of protesters in the streets of Tehran in 1979 shouting "Death to America." But I have grown to love America and what this blessed nation stands for. In 1982 I became a dual citizen and began studying at the University of Southern California. Over the past four decades,, my love for the U.S. has grown. My heart is grieved when natural-born citizens hate America and blame her for the world’s problems....
