You may have noticed that Easter eggs are more expensive this year. But did you know that climate change is one of the reasons? Most chocolate is made from cocoa grown in West Africa, but a humid heatwave has blasted the crops and massively cut yields. Experts say that human-induced climate change has made the extreme heat 10 times more likely. Which? found some popular eggs have risen in price by 50% or more. The shortage of cocoa resulting from the heatwave has seen prices soar to almost $8,500 (£6,700) a tonne this week. Cocoa trees are particularly vulnerable to...

Supposedly, there is a big energy transition going on. Throughout the West, countries have made ambitious pledges to reduce “greenhouse gas” emissions by specific percentages and by specific dates. Many such pledges were notably made in the Paris Climate Agreement of 2016. Some countries — for example, the U.S. and UK — have even gone beyond the Paris Agreement and made still more ambitious pledges in the years since then. But is any of it real? No, none of it is real. The failure to make the progress that would be necessary to achieve the alleged pledges and mandates is...

“Who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men" (Philippians 2:6-7). Jesus is the role model of the suffering servant. Jesus not only gave up His divine privileges when He emptied Himself, but He also became a servant. For us, this is the next phase in His supreme example of humility. Paul’s phrase “the form of a bond-servant” can also be translated “the essence of a slave.” Christ’s servanthood was not just...

"Climate cafés" have been popping up worldwide over the past few years to help people deal with their global warming anxiety, according to a recent New York Times report. The article "Can Climate Cafes Help Ease the Anxiety of Planetary Crisis?" documented a new phenomenon of groups meeting, whether publicly or privately, to "discuss their grief, fears, anxiety and other emotions about the climate crisis." One organization, Climate Psychology Alliance North America, claimed to the NYT that it has trained 350 people to run climate cafés in the U.S. and Canada with 300 people on the "climate-aware therapist directory." "The...

In May of 2011, I wrote the following words in the Chronicle of Higher Education: “Online learning has become the third rail in American higher-education politics: Step on it and you’re toast.” In so doing, I planted my foot squarely on that electrified third rail. Besides being roundly criticized in the comments section, I learned that my administration at the time—which was, unbeknownst to me, planning a major online expansion—did not appreciate what they saw as an attack on their sacred (cash) cow. I was removed from my administrative position, had my pay cut, and was threatened with dismissal. Being...

An American Airlines flight that rolled off the runway last month when its braking system malfunctioned had undergone a brake-replacement job just four days prior, investigators said. The February 10 American Airlines flight from Washington, DC, to Dallas experienced a "brake system anomaly" during landing, according to a preliminary National Transportation Safety Board report. The Boeing 737-823 model's automatic brakes switched from off to on and then off again immediately after landing, flight crew told the investigators. The pilot had to manually brake the pedals and reverse the plane's thrusters to slow the engine, the NTSB report said. The pilot...

There's not enough power to flood the roads with electric vehicles, but DemocRATs don't and probably are counting on it. In perfect Democratic Party form, the Biden administration has dropped another government burden on the private sector. Two days ago, the White House rolled out “the toughest-ever” automobile emissions standards. The objective, of course, is to force Americans to buy the cars that the ruling class wants them to drive. There’s a big problem here, though – the grid won’t be up to the task of keeping tens of millions of electric vehicles charged. The headline from a Bloomberg story...

PALO ALTO -- The Arctic fox is a natural beauty but this captivating creature with its playful nature and distinctive look is under threat. Experts say Arctic foxes need to hunt rodents to survive long winters and climate change is thinning the rodent population. "If we get warmer and more unstable climate, where you can get snow melt and you get icing on the ground, that is going to affect how well the rodents can survive," explained conservation biologist Kristine Ulvund with the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research. Stanford professor of biology Elizabeth Hadley, who has studied biodiversity for decades,...

The strain that rising global temperatures could have on on the agriculture industry and inflation around the world will likely cause food prices to increase even more, according to new research. Changes in average monthly temperatures have the strongest and most consistent correlation to productivity and inflation figures, according to a paper published in the journal Communications Earth & Environment on Thursday. Researchers at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany looked at historical food prices in different categories of food goods across countries around the world to explore how fluctuations in different climatic conditions have historically impacted...

The Democrats, through their immigration policies and outright instructions to illegal aliens, are lining up a new voting class for perpetual power. When Biden entered the Oval Office following the fraudulent 2020 presidential election (81 million votes…ROFL) he and his puppeteers immediately undid everything that President Trump put in place to secure our southern border. At the time, many Americans were dumbfounded. Don’t Biden and his puppeteers know what will happen if the border is left wide open? The answer is that destroying the United States was always the Democrat party’s plan. Having 10 million (and growing) illegal alien invaders...
