Infection with the virus that’s the main cause of cold sores may double a person’s risk of developing dementia, according to a new study. Adding to growing evidence of a link between the two, further research is needed to investigate whether anti-herpes treatment reduces the risk and may open the door to developing new vaccines. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is a common, lifelong infection that’s treatable but not curable. It’s estimated that, globally, around 67% of people under 50 have herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) infection, the main cause of oral herpes or cold sores, and around 13% have...

Nutty Judge Engoron (rhymes with moron) now moves Donald Trump closer to exoneration. His crazy ruling now heads to the appeals court to be dismissed. The judge set the world record for falsely valuing real estate, when he wildly claimed that Mar a Lago was worth $18million. Just the parking lot would sell for ten times that.

House lawmakers on Friday floated a new bipartisan national security bill that would beef up security at the problematic US-Mexico border and provide much-needed aid to Ukraine. The “Defending Borders, Defending Democracies Act” would restore the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy for one year, while also allowing border enforcement authorities to detain and immediately expel illegal aliens who don’t meet the threshold for asylum claims. The “Remain in Mexico” policy requires most migrants who reach the southern border — usually after leaving Central America or the Caribbean — to remain in Mexico while US courts review their asylum claims....

A wave of inflationary signals means that the Federal Reserve's next move could be a rate hike, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers said. "There's a meaningful chance, maybe it's 15%, that the next move is going to be upwards in rates, not downwards," Summers said during an interview on Bloomberg TV on Friday, adding that the Fed has to be "very careful." His read on recent key inflation indicators in January, including a 3.1% year-over-year increase in the consumer price index and a 0.9% rise in the producer price index, formed the basis of his rationale. He added that the...

"We are going to see the deep state bureaucracy fully fleshed out in rare form. We are going to see every fold on Jabba the Hutt. We are going to see individuals like Brennan and Clapper and the Obama Administration and Newland and others brought out into the light. We are going to see the full nature of the military intelligence community’s manipulation of the military forces of the United States of America at the command and control level, in league with different US bureaucratic agencies and different committees within the US Congress, to subvert the Constitutional Republic of the...

Two teenagers have been charged as juveniles in the Kansas City Chiefs parade shooting, despite a prosecutor previously saying they would be accused as adults. The suspects, who remain unidentified by authorities, are charged with gun-related offenses and resisting arrest, said The Jackson County Family Court division. 'It is anticipated that additional charges are expected in the future as the investigation by the Kansas City Police Department continues,' the Office of the Juvenile Officer said in a statement. Missouri law dictates that juvenile hearings are not open to the public. It's possible the suspects could be charged as adults if...

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday supported a House proposal that he said is designed to limit "bad-faith objections" to school-library books and instructional materials, and called claims that Florida bans books a "false narrative." A House bill (HB 7025) includes imposing $100 “processing” fees for unsuccessful book objections. The proposed fees would apply to people who do “not have a student enrolled in the school where the material is located” and have “unsuccessfully objected to five materials during the calendar year.”

St. Louis Park public schools will now let parents decide whether their children should be subjected to curriculum that is LGBTQ-affirming. This change comes after two public interest law firms, True North Legal and First Liberty Institute, sent letters to the school district saying the district’s previous denials of opt-out requests violated the First Amendment and state law. In 2023, six Muslim families requested that St. Louis Park public schools provide notice before LGBTQ-affirming books were discussed in class. These families, who emigrated from Somalia over the last two decades, also requested the ability to opt out their children from...

State Senate Minority Leader Kevin Kelly was abruptly and surprisingly replaced by first-term Sen. Stephen Harding as caucus leader on Friday, culminating tensions that has been brewing since before the start of the legislative session earlier this month. Kelly, a lawyer, was in his fourth year leading the minority caucus as a moderate trying to keep together the dozen-member group, including more-conservative lawmakers. His role was to help the caucus reach consensus on legislation often pushed by the 24-12 Democratic majority, and summing up floor debates prior to the final word from Senate President Pro Tempore Martin New of New...

Explanation: Heading for its next perihelion passage on April 21, Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks is growing brighter. The greenish coma of this periodic Halley-type comet has become relatively easy to observe in small telescopes. But the bluish ion tail now streaming from the active comet's coma and buffeted by the solar wind, is faint and difficult to follow. Still, in this image stacked exposures made on the night of February 11 reveal the fainter tail's detailed structures. The frame spans over two degrees across a background of faint stars and background galaxies toward the northern constellation Lacerta. Of course Comet 12P's April...

I appreciate every effort to make Jesus known to a world that does know who He really is, especially to a world that has false perceptions about Him. I appreciate those who are willing to think outside the box and find unconventional ways to get people interested in hearing about the Savior. And I appreciate Christians who are willing to invest large amounts of money to reach massive secular audiences. But I don’t appreciate efforts that, in the end, might do more harm than good.
