FREEQs and FREEPERS, we're 2/3 of the way through the quarter and we've only collected 1/3 of the funds, and our Credit Card processor just shut down Free Republic's account!
It's almost like someone doesn't like us sharing information.
Please support the best information 'watering hole' on the Internet!

Our credit card processor just shut down our account this morning, so I won't be needing anyone's credit card info after all. Credit card donations are gone.
This leaves us with PayPal, mail-in, and Venmo. Someone suggested I look into Zelle, which I will look into today.

Agree. And Zelle doesn’t charge a fee (I believe the participating banks, in effect, subsidize it) to senders or recipients.

For other readers and subscribers who do online banking, I simply set up an automatic payment each month with my bank. My bank automatically mails a check each month to FR in Fresno.

I used to hand write the checks and mail them with a stamp. Now I just tell my bank to do it. Easy-peasy.
So easy to send a few bucks to Free Republic and keep us online. Is it worth $5/month? Is it worth a dollar a day?

Because we are a conservative site, it is that simple. For years I was a credit card donor until this crap started happening about credit cards. Each quarter I now just send in a check for 100 dollars. This is also the reason that electronic money systems must be resisted. The day we cannot use cash or a check is he day a few strokes on a government computer destroy one financially. It is all about control.

I haven’t written a check in over 15 years.
When I click on the “donate by PayPal” icon it takes me to a site with 3 options - PayPal venmo and credit card.
I chose credit card and it worked just fine, so I don’t understand what all this fuss is about.
If Zelle ever gets set up as an option for FR please let me know. I’ll gladly contribute.
That's about my same timeline. I got a cell phone in 2005. I lost my flip phone in 2009 in an airplane toilet. Funny story. I got an Android smart phone in 2010 and now it's like a piece of my body.
I do all of my banking and bill paying on my phone or desktop now. So much for being a Luddite.
I don’t want another dang online thing to keep up with. I’m basically sick of online things to keep up with.
Mailing a check is fine & simple. I can do once a quarter instead of per month, perhaps.
