Consumer prices rose 3.1 percent over the past year and 0.3 percent in January, according to data released Tuesday by the Labor Department. The annual inflation rate fell from 3.4 percent in December while monthly price growth accelerated slightly from a 0.2-percent rate last month. Economists expected the annual inflation rate to fall to 2.9 percent and monthly inflation to come in around 0.2 percent, according to consensus estimates. The January inflation decline is the latest sign of the U.S. economy holding up better than many experts expected with just nine months until the November elections.

Diary of a Snow Shoveler (probable location - North East) December 8 - 6:00 PM It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!

Maybe Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is playing 5D chess and everyone else is simply picking their noses. And maybe picking Oklahoma Senator James Lankford to negotiate on behalf of Republicans was a stroke of genius – he was just reelected in 2022, so any anger he inspires will likely dissipate before he faces voters again. And just maybe McConnell knew that any deal would be unacceptable to Republicans because Democrats want open borders, so he set up this scenario so he could claim to have tried, then will separate out the foreign aid part, which is all he really...

As Twitchy reported and no mainstream media outlet probably will, a transgender woman from El Salvador tried to shoot up Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church with an AR-15 Sunday, only to be taken down by two off-duty police officers. Genesse Moreno, who went by the name “Jeffrey,” had "Free Palestine" written on her rifle, so the motive is still unclear. The Houston Police have announced that through an investigation that included documents and interviews, they have determined that the shooter was a female Hispanic and will be referred to by she/her pronouns. This is all very confusing, but it seems that...

Maria Manaura, who’s been arrested at least eight times in the six months since she arrived in New York City from Venezuela, is living at the Row NYC hotel, once hailed for its unbeatable Times Square location and front-row view of the theater district. Now it’s drug-infested and violent, but still costs taxpayers $500 a night for each of the 1,300 rooms given over to migrants. Manaura was busted again Jan. 30 for snatching a woman’s cellphone on the No. 6 train. She was charged with grand larceny and resisting arrest, but instead of getting locked up, Judge Jay Weiner...

A brutal Venezuelan gang that has used the border crisis to set up in New York could join forces with the feared MS-13, a senior FBI agent has told The Post. Tren de Aragua, which law enforcement is warning is rapidly expanding its criminal empire with a spate of brazen phone robberies in the five boroughs, is a priority for the FBI, agent John Morales said. Morales, the special agent in charge of the El Paso division in Texas, said the agency is closely monitoring Tren de Aragua’s growth and is concerned about it forming alliances with existing networks.

Joe Biden is in trouble with black voters as the 2024 election goes into full swing. So his campaign thought it would be a great idea to post a video of Biden buying fried chicken for black kids. As TGP’s Kristinn Taylor reported, a poll recently released by ABC News and the Washington Post has Trump leading Joe Biden in a 2024 rematch, 52 percent to 42 percent among registered voters. 74% of Americans say the economy is poor. Americans are rejecting the propaganda promoting Joe Biden’s economic agenda dubbed “Bidenomics.” The economy sucks. Inflation is still high, groceries prices...

The Mann v. Steyn trial has ended, for now. Post-trial motions and appeals will likely play out over months and years, with little to report on a daily basis. It’s time to return to some of my other obsessions. Like the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). Over the years, I’ve had more than twenty posts on this utterly failed agency, which is probably the best large-scale example of a pure socialist-model economic enterprise in the United States. A few of my prior posts on NYCHA can be found here, here and here. After starting out with great optimism and...

Israel not only helps its friends. It also has a long record of helping its enemies, sending humanitarian aid, medical personnel, and search-and-rescue teams, to these countries in the wake of natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis. This practice has not lessened the recipients’ enmity. Israel should cease the practice, and direct its aid only to its friends, and to those who need it most, which right now includes Israel’s own people, for the war in Gaza, and Hezbollah rockets, have forced 280,000 Israelis to be internally displaced, having had to leave their communities on the Gaza and Lebanese...

In the left’s mythology, there are white people and “people of color.” White people are bad; “people of color” are good. Racism is bad unless you’re mocking, stereotyping, and discriminating against white people, which is simply redress for centuries of white supremacy. White people are always oppressors in every case, and “people of color” are always noble victims. One of the hosts of the cringefest known as “The View,” however, got a rude awakening Tuesday, in the form of a reminder that reality is not really that simple. Fox News reported Thursday that Sunny Hostin, one of the far-left harridans...

“Even the AP is acknowledging that there is deception” in modern media, said Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, host of “Washington Watch,” on Wednesday. Perkins referenced an Associated Press headline published on January 31, which read, “Grave peril of digital conspiracy theories: ‘What happens when no one believes anything anymore?’” That’s “a very profound question,” said Perkins, but he added that the AP failed to “get to the real problem and the source or the solution.”

Minister for Enterprise Simon Coveney has accused Israel of “behaving like a rogue state” after its latest military action in Rafah. […] Mr. Coveney said that it is not acceptable to “behave like a monster to defeat a monster,” which is what, he said, Israel is now doing. “We are witnessing Israel behaving like a like a rogue state, quite frankly,” he said. “They’re ignoring the International Court of Justice. They seem now to even be ignoring their closest allies in countries like the United States and the UK, who are clearly calling for restraint, looking for the basis of...

On Monday’s broadcast of “CNN NewsNight,” former DNC chair and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean stated that while he admires President Joe Biden approaching foreign policy based on what’s best for the country, “I do think, however, that he is moving towards a position” that is “probably more to the liking of Arab Americans.” Dean said, “I think Netanyahu has always tried to push things his way. I think relationships with the United States, particularly with the Democrats, started to slide downhill when Netanyahu addressed the Congress at the invitation of the Republicans without bothering to consult with President Obama,...

From the Richmond Examiner, Feb. 8. For several days past the Government has been in possession of facts that hinted, beyond a doubt, to the existence of a secret organization Of disloyal men, having for its object the forcible release of the Yankee prisoners held at the Libby and on Belle Isle, the assassination of the President, and the destruction of the Government buildings and workshops located here. We find the following interesting intelligence our late Richmond files, the receipt of which we have already acknowledged: Capt. MACCUBBIN, chief of the detective corps, was assigned the duty of penetrating the...

The Senate passed a massive foreign aid bill to Ukraine and Israel without border security measures after Republican turmoil ultimately tanked a bipartisan deal last week. The sprawling $95 billion bill captured the necessary 60 senators needed to send the legislation to the House Tuesday morning after a rare all-night session ending in a 70-29 vote, but it faces an uncertain fate. In total, the package includes $61 billion for Ukraine, $14 billion for Israel in its war against Hamas and $4.83 billion to support partners in the Indo-Pacific, including Taiwan, to deter aggression by China. It also provides $9.15...

Woke farming? The ESG and DEI diseases are now afflicting agriculture. Having spent the first two of my eight decades on our family’s small dairy farm in Wisconsin, it was ingrained early and often that hard work and common sense were keys to survival in the agriculture realm. My follow-on decades were all embedded in higher education -- student first, then faculty and administrator -- and, there, hard work is significantly less tangible and common sense is non-existent. Nonetheless, I remained confident that American agriculture had stayed true to its roots -- hard work and common sense. Can you imagine...

An expert in election data asserts that almost 35,000 Georgia voters in 2020 cast ballots from the wrong jurisdictions, but Georgia’s top election official hasn’t responded to his request for an investigation. Mark Davis, president of Georgia-based Data Productions Inc., has pushed for Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office to investigate his data since May 2021. Davis says he inquired again earlier this month after finding evidence of the same problems in Georgia’s 2021 and 2022 elections. “The same thing is going to happen again in 2024,” Davis, who earlier this year scored a legal victory over the Stacey Abrams-founded...

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem (2/13/24)[Prayer]The Names and Titles of God (El, Elohah)Psalm 139:1919 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men. Nehemiah 9:1717 And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.(King James Version)______________________________________________God Bless America.ML/LTOS
