Critics are accusing the DOJ of sweeping additional charges against FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried under the rug, after prosecutors said he would not face a second trial for campaign finance violations following his conviction last month. In a letter filed on Friday night in federal court in Manhattan, prosecutors said the 'strong public interest' in a prompt resolution of the case outweighed the benefits of a second trial. In his letter to the court, US Attorney Damian Williams noted that prosecutors introduced evidence about all of the dropped charges during Bankman-Fried's monthlong first trial, where he was found guilty on...

Newly-released bodycam footage shows the moment an LA Sheriff's Deputy shot a mother who had called 911 after her ex-boyfriend allegedly attacked her and her daughter. Niani Finlayson, 27, called police and 'reported that her boyfriend would not leave her alone' and then screaming and sounds of a struggle could be heard', the LA Sheriff's Department (LASD) said. Footage shows deputies swiftly approaching the apartment complex and soon saw Finlayson holding an eight-inch kitchen knife at the door. She reportedly told the officers that she was going to stab her ex-boyfriend for allegedly hurting her nine-year-old daughter, Xaisha. Xaisha was...

They were testing the New Year’s Eve ball today in Times Square ahead of Sunday’s celebrations, but the real spectacle was happening on the streets. In a self-declared “heightened threat environment” since Hamas’ murderous assault on Israeli communities near the border with Gaza and the butchering of thousands on October 7, and the punishing military response by the Jewish state, the NYPD is pulling out all the security stops openly and behind the scenes in anticipation of protests and potential violence. With big NYE specials in the final stages, networks are gearing up for an anticipated unruly night. Amidst bubbling...

It should go without saying that The Gospel Coalition (TGC) has absolutely nothing to do with the gospel or any other biblical teaching or exhortation. The Gospel Coalition is nothing more than an outlet for the carnal consumption of worldly influence into the Church by compromised Evangelicals who are bound together by their propensity toward embracing the culture. It is, in fact, The Gospel-less Coalition. As with previous years, Brett McCracken, a prominent author at The Gospel Coalition has released his “Best Movies” of the year list for 2023, and just like previous years, it’s filled with sex, violence, foul...

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has defied NYC Mayor Eric Adams demands on when migrants can arrive in the city - with the latest busload set to be dropped off just as the Times Square ball drops on New Years Eve. Last week Adams issued an executive order that buses could only arrive at Port Authority to drop off migrants between 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. from Monday to Friday unless given permission to do otherwise. PALM BEACH, Florida — Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News exclusively on Thursday evening that if he does not win the 2024 presidential election, he expects the nation’s economy will spiral into a “depression” like the 1929 “Great Depression.” Trump, who sat with Breitbart News for more than two hours on Thursday evening at his Mar-a-Lago resort, also said during the interview that recent stock market gains are happening because the polls show him leading Democrat President Joe Biden significantly and that people are betting on a Trump victory in November. “I think if I don’t win, we’re going...

Florida governor Ron DeSantis found a clever way to make it possible...Union Decertification Legislation in FloridaIn May, governor DeSantis signed a bill that requires at least 60% of workers in a bargaining unit to be dues-paying members. United Teachers of Dade (UTD) did not hit the threshold. Also, unions also can no longer automatically deduct dues from paychecks, members have to opt in. TOKYO -- Inflation continues to simmer in many Asian countries largely due to higher prices of rice and other food items. Increases in food prices account for 50% to 70% of inflation in the Philippines and India. Prices of rice, a regional staple, have soared due to poor harvests caused by extreme weather. Prices are unlikely to come down soon, as many rice exporters have grown reluctant to sell it abroad, giving priority to domestic demand. Concerns are mounting about a possible recurrence of the food crisis in the late 2000s. Inflation has begun to show signs of slowing down...

According to an analysis from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the minimum wage does not suffice to pay for a typical set of living expenses in any state of the United States.Hawaii, Georgia and Utah, where the living wage gap exceeded $10 per hour, fared the worst. While Georgia and Utah only apply the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, Hawaii has a substantially higher minimum wage of $12 - once more to be increased to $14 on Jan. 1, 2024. Yet, the extremely high living costs on the inland group have created the highest living wage gap in all...

We have said that Adam West is the best Batman ever. A big reason for that is the gallery of rogues that popped up on the television series from 1966–68. Celebrities lined up for the chance to play nefarious baddies on William Dozier's camp classic. In fact, Frank Sinatra and Mickey Rooney almost played the Joker and Penguin, respectively. While that casting never came to fruition, the actors who eventually filled the roles came to define these comic book villains in the flesh

If there was no other reason -- and there are plenty -- not to vote for Joe Biden, the fact that his administration has opened the door to more and more governmental control would be a great one. Climate change is a big excuse to make all kinds of societal transformative change and control our actions--not to mention, destroying or building up industries with those controls and restrictions. Coal and oil are bad, electrical vehicles (except those from that evil Elon Musk) are good. Government shouldn't be in the business of picking winners and losers, yet that's what they doing...

Tensions are increasing between President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to a new report at Axios, a frustrated Biden hung up on Netanyahu after a dispute about how to handle tax revenues the Israeli government collects for the Palestinian Authority. I wrote earlier this week about a report that Biden allegedly talked Netanyahu out of a "preemptive strike" on Hezbollah that Israel was reportedly planning in the wake of the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by Hamas. That report comes at a time when Biden needs to be seen as more of a competent leader, and...

If you have read my articles for a while, you would know I am a big fan of studies that give a perspective of where the average American stands financially. Now, let me be clear: I wouldn’t use these as a basis for a financial plan by any stretch of the imagination. These studies don’t mean people are in a good or bad financial situation. Plus, they include a large contingent that lives below or at the poverty line. However, why I like these studies is twofold. First, finances are still taboo to talk about. Thus, most people have no sense...

For young children with febrile urinary tract infection (fUTI), a five-day amoxicillin-clavulanate course is noninferior to a 10-day course for recurrence of UTI within 30 days after completion of therapy, according to a study published. Giovanni Montini, M.D. and colleagues conducted a multicenter, randomized, controlled trial involving children aged 3 months to 5 years with a noncomplicated fUTI to assess the noninferiority (5 percent threshold) of a five- versus 10-day antibiotic course. A total of 142 children were randomly assigned to receive amoxicillin-clavulanate 50 + 7.12 mg/kg/day orally in three divided doses for five or 10 days (72 and 70...
