Following several new documents containing details of the Tesla Cybertruck posted to the EPA’s website, we have been able to better understand the efficiencies the truck will achieve. While Cybertruck should perform better than nearly all its current competitors in the electric pickup segment, the slightly smaller Rivian R1T appears to have it beaten – even with larger wheels and battery packs.

The man suspected of fatally shooting three people and wounding another at a Las Vegas university Wednesday was a professor who unsuccessfully sought a job at the school, a law enforcement official with direct knowledge of the investigation told The Associated Press. The suspect previously worked at East Carolina University in North Carolina, according to the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to release the information publicly. … Five important natural thresholds already risk being crossed, according to the Global Tipping Points report (https://global-tipping-points.org/), and three more may be reached in the 2030s if the world heats 1.5C (2.7F) above pre-industrial temperatures. … The tipping points at risk include the collapse of big ice sheets in Greenland and the West Antarctic, the widespread thawing of permafrost, the death of coral reefs in warm waters, and the collapse of one oceanic current in the North Atlantic. Unlike other changes to the climate such as hotter heatwaves and heavier rainfall, these systems do not slowly shift in line with...

File this under 'That's not supposed to happen!': Scientists observed a metal healing itself, something never seen before. If this process can be fully understood and controlled, we could be at the start of a whole new era of engineering. In a study published in July, a team from Sandia National Laboratories and Texas A&M University was testing the resilience of the metal, using a specialized transmission electron microscope technique to pull the ends of the metal 200 times every second. They then observed the self-healing at ultra-small scales in a 40-nanometer-thick piece of platinum suspended in a vacuum. Cracks...

VANITY and need further investigation: A friend is a Veterans Administration Hospital advocate (volunteers with veterans helping them get help through the V.A. system). He informed me ILLEGAL ALIENS are getting V.A. care now - often ahead of our Veterans. This is a news story if someone can verify it but I'm not a journalist. Hoping someone will follow up and get a 'real news' story out of this. Thank you.

A second Donald Trump administration will take action "criminally or civilly" against people in the media, an ally of the former U.S. president warned. "We will go out and find the conspirators, not just in the government, but in the media, yes, we're going to come after the people in the media, who lied about American citizens, who helped Joe Biden rig the elections, we're going to come after you," Kash Patel said on Steve Bannon's podcast, referring to a potential second Trump leadership.

Search... Consequences: Detransition Lawsuits Threaten 'Booming' Gender-Transition Business Amy Cur Twitchy has covered the Left's ongoing battle to 'transition' children who, according to Rachel Levine might be 'going through the wrong puberty' or otherwise 'identify' as a different gender. Many, many voices have warned that transition is not as reversible (link) or inconsequential as the Left claims (link), and not something we should be doing to minors (places like the UK's NHS have also made some changes to transitioning of kids). And now, the lawsuits begin. People who are detransitioning are suing the providers who transitioned them in the first...

Researchers have discovered that a common dietary supplement could protect against chronic Cryptosporidium infections which are particularly prevalent in children under two and in areas with poorer sanitation. Cryptosporidium is a parasite that is one of the leading causes of diarrhea-related deaths in children. A previous study where human volunteers were exposed to Cryptosporidium showed that people with higher levels of indoles in their feces prior to exposure were resistant to infection. Indoles are molecules normally found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, and they are known to activate the AHR system, a receptor which regulates barriers in the gut, skin,...

For patients with hypertension and at least one other coronary heart disease risk factor, cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality is similar for those receiving a thiazide-type diuretic, calcium channel blocker (CCB), or angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, according to a study published online Dec. 4 in JAMA Network Open. Jose-Miguel Yamal, Ph.D. and colleagues randomly assigned participants aged 55 years or older with a diagnosis of hypertension and at least one other coronary heart disease risk factor to receive a thiazide-type diuretic (15,002), a CCB (8,898), or an ACE inhibitor (8,904). Participants were followed for all-cause mortality due to CVD, and a...

Aspirin is an inexpensive and readily available medication that could benefit cancer treatments, preventing metastatic cancer spread and reducing vascular complications, finds a new meta-analysis study. The research looked at the results of 118 observational studies based on around 1 million patients with a wide range of cancers, finding that taking a daily low-dose (75 or 81 mg/day) aspirin was associated with a 20% reduction in deaths from cancer and in deaths from all causes. "Aspirin was shown in 1968 to be of benefit in the treatment of cancer, as it targets a number of key biological mechanisms of cancer,...
