Aspirin is an inexpensive and readily available medication that could benefit cancer treatments, preventing metastatic cancer spread and reducing vascular complications, finds a new meta-analysis study.
The research looked at the results of 118 observational studies based on around 1 million patients with a wide range of cancers, finding that taking a daily low-dose (75 or 81 mg/day) aspirin was associated with a 20% reduction in deaths from cancer and in deaths from all causes.
"Aspirin was shown in 1968 to be of benefit in the treatment of cancer, as it targets a number of key biological mechanisms of cancer, reducing risks of metastatic cancer spread and vascular complications in cancer patients. Our review of research surrounding aspirin in cancer treatment finds positive evidence to support its use in cancer treatments. The use of low-dose aspirin in cancer treatment has been shown to lead to likely reduction in metastatic cancer spread and reduce complications related to blood clots," said Peter Elwood.
The research aimed to evaluate the risks of the use of aspirin in cancer treatments, including the risks associated with gastrointestinal bleeding. The report examined studies of stomach bleeding associated with aspirin, and shows that such bleeding attributable to aspirin is less serious than gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with stomach ulcers or stomach infection, and there is no valid evidence of any fatal bleeding attributable to aspirin.
The researchers concluded that, given the relative safety of aspirin, it should be promoted as a treatment for cancer due to the consistent evidence of reduction in metastatic cancer spread and the earlier aspirin is commenced after a diagnosis of cancer has been made, the greater the benefit from aspirin.
"We believe that—given its relative safety and its favorable effects—the use of aspirin as an additional treatment of cancer is fully justified.

No wonder TPTB have tried to stop this simple and inexpensive med.

Aspirin can also have negative effects. I’m 75 years old and was a chronic headache sufferer since as far back as I can remember. I took full dosage aspirin all these years for them. Recently I started having breathing problems. I couldn’t catch my breath after taking a shower or just walking from one room to the next. Turns out the aspirin had thinned my blood so much that I had to have a blood transfusion and was put on iron supplements. I was taken off of aspirin and was told to switch to Tylenol. Since getting off of aspirin my breathing has greatly improved and I haven’t had a headache since.
But acetaminophen will destroy your liver.
Bump for reference
Yes, I know. My friends son overdid taking Tylenol and now he has sirrohis of the liver and the doctors have told him he has 5 years to live. Thankfully my headaches are gone and I don’t have to take any pain medications at all.
I think regular aspirin is about 4 times the miligrams of the low dose aspirin. People are certainly NOT being advised to take full dose aspirin on a regular basis. Regarding the thin blood, while iron may be one way to help, when I was young I was always anemic and was told to take iron supplements by my doctor. It did NOT help at all. Finally I read in a book by Adelle Davis that one cause of anemia was premature death of red blood cells (RBC), She recommended taking Vitamin E for that because E can help increase the lifespan of an RBC from 85 days to 115 days. I started taking Vitamin E supplements daily, and never had the anemia problem again. I am 85 and in reasonable health still.
I’m glad that Vitamin E is helping you. My anemis has disappeared since getting off of aspirin and taking iron supplements. When I was anemic I got hooked on eating ice, which I found out us a symptom of severe anemia. Did a lot of damage to my teeth.
