Michael Cohen, a former personal attorney for Donald Trump, said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” that the former president was the “single most dangerous thing to happen to American democracy.” Cohen said, “You must listen to what Donald Trump says. He’s telling you exactly what’s on his mind, probably foolish, but he is telling us what’s on his mind, and more importantly, what he intends to do.” He continued, “So when he says that on day one, if he wins, he’s going to rewrite the Constitution, he’s not joking. he thinks...

I’m a 40-year-old Columbia University professor and last month I found myself crying in front of dozens of strangers on campus. I wasn’t planning on crying. The tears just came out when I spoke about the danger of antisemitism on US campuses in a video that has since gone viral. Judging from the thousands of supportive messages I’ve received, it seems that Jewish Americans around the country have been crying with me. It was a cry of despair — a howl, really — that took on the purest form of human pain. A cry that arose from the darkest, deepest...

House Republicans approved legislation Friday that would slash nearly 40 percent of the budget for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The funding bill, passed by a 213-203 vote, cuts 39 percent of the EPA’s budget and would be the smallest budget the agency has had in three decades. Republican Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.), Mike Lawler (N.Y.) and Marc Molinaro (N.Y.) voted against the bill, while Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (Texas) was recorded as voting for it. Republicans have had longstanding complaints about the agency, which takes on pollution, contamination and climate change, arguing that it overreaches.

A Bronx political activist is being ripped by fellow Democrats for spewing antisemitic remarks on social media after he crossed party lines in a heated New York City Council race to endorse a GOP candidate. The hateful remarks made by Efrain Gonzalez in old Facebook videos are being dredged up by Democrats after he switched party lines and endorse Republican Kristy Marmorato instead of incumbent Democrat Marjorie Velazquez in the Bronx’s 13th District. “Jews are the most corrupt real estate people in New York,” Gonzalez said in one video, which had posted earlier this year on the social media site....

This past week, Texas Governor Rick Perry notched his 250th execution. Writers, movie stars, guys who didn’t do it … Perry has executed them all. That’s far and away the most for governors under the modern US death penalty regime. But is it an all-time record? The answer appears to be “yes”: a review of state execution data reveals no other governor throughout the U.S. constitutional era who even approaches Perry’s body count, at least not when it comes to peacetime civilian cases. Only two other men — Perry’s predecessor George W. Bush, and Depression-era New York chief executive Herbert...
