COLUMBUS, Ohio — Victory has many fathers while failure is an orphan, the saying goes. But there’s been no shortage of scapegoats floated by Ohio Republicans and conservatives this week as they look to explain why voters overwhelmingly rejected State Issue 1 earlier this week. A popular target for blame is the Ohio business community, which was divided over State Issue 1. The business groups that endorsed Issue 1 struggled to raise in-state money, due to their apprehensions about being tied to an upcoming November ballot issue that would add abortion rights to the Ohio Constitution, prompting the “yes” campaign...

Archbishop Viganò Reacts to Francis’ Statements to a Spanish NewspaperAldo Maria Valli (Duc in altum): Your Excellency, we often say “motus in fine velocior” – “movement is faster towards the end” – about Francis’ attitude aimed at liquefying what little remains of Catholic doctrine and espousing the thought of the world. The most recent news confirms this, including yet another one of his interviews. What is your assessment?+Carlo Maria Viganò: World Youth Day, celebrated this year in Lisbon, Portugal, has confirmed the acceleration of Bergoglio’s plan to provoke a schism: his latest appointments, which are provocative to say the least;...

Over a third of the population of the UK are not aware that so-called “transgender women” are in fact biological males, as campaigners accuse the LGBT movement and the legacy media of adopting “intentionally” confusing lingo to muddy the debate around transgenderism. A survey conducted by the policy analysis firm Murray Blackburn Mackenzie (MBM) found that 35 per cent of Britons incorrectly believe a “transgender woman” was someone who was born as a biological woman or were unclear about what the term meant. The poll went on to find that there was even more confusion over the term “trans woman”,...

WASHINGTON, Aug 11 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden may be headed for trial on criminal charges after talks on a potential plea deal reached impasse, the newly named U.S. Special Counsel in the case, David Weiss, said on Friday. Moments earlier, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland elevated Weiss, the federal prosecutor who has been handling the case, to special counsel status, which would give him additional authority to continue his investigation. Republicans in Congress have threatened an impeachment inquiry into unproven claims that Biden benefited from his son's business ventures. Weiss filed criminal tax and gun charges...

The Satanic Temple has placed at least one pro-abortion billboard in Arkansas. The billboard comes as the group has dropped its lawsuit against Lamar Advertising Company over a set of pro-abortion billboards the company rejected in 2020. In 2020 the Satanic Temple proposed four billboard designs that falsely claimed The Satanic Temple’s “religious abortion ritual averts many state restrictions” on abortion and that “abortions save lives.” The group reportedly wanted Lamar Advertising Company to place the billboards near pregnancy resource centers in Arkansas. Lamar Advertising Company understandably rejected the billboard designs for being “misleading and offensive.” The Satanic Temple sued...

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced on Friday he was appointing a special counsel to investigate first son Hunter Biden. Garland appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss of Delaware, the federal prosecutor who had been at the forefront of the Hunter Biden probes for years. The warriors from other Greek city-states were usually farmers first and soldiers second — but Spartans dedicated their lives to battle. Bret Devereaux has a problem with the Spartans. He’s concerned that so much of U.S. culture admires ancient Greece’s most famous bronze-clad warriors. In a Foreign Policy article published this July, he claims ancient Sparta’s military reputation is a myth, and that the city-state was a “proto-fascist” entity “unworthy of emulation.” The article completely ignores Sparta’s well-merited, legendary military reputation and falsely tars Sparta as “fascist.” This characterization is not only vague but also self-defeating. One of the...

There’s no phone number. No email address. Not even a website. More than a year since the Pentagon launched an office to investigate UFO sightings, there is still no hotline for pilots and others to report mysterious objects directly to the investigators. Some witnesses say they’re getting frustrated and feel forced to turn to Capitol Hill or outside groups to tell their stories. Others say it discourages them from attempting to flag such incidents at all because they’re worried about recrimination if they report to the FAA or military supervisors. [...] The Pentagon has denied the claims. At the same...

One of the things that’s great about Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz is that he always plays offense, not defense. His latest idea is a way that the Republican-controlled House can give Trump some immunity, blocking the indictments that the DOJ’s Jack Smith has brought against him in a clear case of election interference. I love how clever the idea is, but we all know that the House leadership will not act. Oliver Cromwell would have understood. So, here’s the idea, which Gaetz outlined during an interview with Charlie Kirk:I’m worried that too many of my Republican colleagues in Congress are...
