Gov. Ron DeSantis has named an outspoken opponent of LGBTQ equality to the appeals bench of Central and Southwest Florida.
DeSantis appointed Apopka lawyer Roger Gannam to serve as judge on the 6th District Court of Appeal, which hears cases from Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Lee, Polk, Orange and Osceola counties.
For the better part of a decade, Gannam has made headlines for his legal battles against LGBTQ rights for the Liberty Counsel, an evangelical organization the Southern Poverty Law Center lists as an extremist hate group.
Gannam’s activities have included a U.S. Supreme Court challenge to same-sex marriage rights and opposition to Jacksonville’s anti-discrimination ordinance.
In a Florida Times Union guest column about the latter in 2015, Gannam argued enforcing equal legal protections of LGBTQ people is “discrimination against people of faith.”

How DARE DeSanctimonious do this? What a horrible person.

anti-LGBTQ lawyer “
Oh please
Who ISN’T an extremist according to the Southern Poverty Law Center??
Powerful image. Given Trump’s advocacy for the LGBT agenda, I’m expecting any moment he and his Only-Trump followers to condemn this action by Ron DeSantis.
Sounds like a very good pick. If he is hated by the SPLC, that is a very good endorsement.
just because a group likes some one and a person holds up a sign he was given, doesn’t mean the group will get everything they want.
Trump helped every group of US Citizens in one way or other.
desantis has done more to hurt this country then to help it, shipping illegals around is in no way helping the country.
Desantis has authority as governor to not allow them into his state.
IF HE DID That, he would not be show boating shipping them around and wasting money and endangering US CITIZENS in other states by his childish games of passing the problem he won’t solve on to others.
deport or otherwise don’t allow them into FLA and I’d maybe have some respect for the little gov.
Desantis has authority as governor to not allow them into his state.
Can you back up those statements?
