WASHINGTON — A bombshell FBI informant file containing a $10 million bribery allegation against President Biden and his son was released Thursday by Sen. Chuck Grassley, showing that a Ukrainian oligarch claimed he was “coerced” into making the payoff. The owner of Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdings, Mykola Zlochevsky, told the FBI informant in 2016 during a meeting at a coffee shop in Vienna, Austria, that “it cost 5 [million] to pay one Biden, and 5 [million] to another Biden,” according to the redacted FD-1023 form. “Zlochevsky made some comment that although Hunter Biden ‘was stupid, and his (Zlochevsky’s) dog...

    — Study authors advocate for using "messengers whose voices might carry special weight"A strategic public service announcement (PSA) with counter-stereotypical vaccine messaging using real Fox News clips led to an uptake in COVID-19 vaccination in red counties, according to a large-scale randomized controlled trial. Across 1,014 counties, an estimated 104,036 people were vaccinated who otherwise wouldn't have been had they not seen the PSA, for an average 103 additional vaccines per treated county (P=0.097), reported Timothy J. Protesters angered by the planned burning of a copy of the Quran by an Iraqi man in Sweden stormed the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad, overrunning the diplomatic compound and starting a fire Thursday. Hours later, Iraq's prime minister cut diplomatic ties with Sweden in protest over the desecration of the Islamic holy book. Protesters stormed the diplomatic post early Thursday, waving flags and signs showing the influential Iraqi Shiite cleric and political leader Muqtada al-Sadr, and set a small fire. The attack on the embassy came ahead of a planned burning of the Quran in Stockholm by an Iraqi asylum-seeker...

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Thursday released the now-infamous FBI form that contains a witness's account of President Joe Biden allegedly partaking in a bribery scheme when he was vice president. Grassley published in full the lightly redacted FD-1023 form, the contents of which several congressional Republicans have seen but that the public has not. The Iowa Republican accused the FBI in an accompanying statement of seeking to “obfuscate and redact” it before the bureau ultimately cooperated with congressional Republicans to show it to them. “The American people can now read this document for themselves, without the filter of politicians...

It happened on the 13th in New York City where some group of boys in an area of Manhattan began to go around removing and stomping on the hats factory workers were wearing. It ended up turning into an all out brawl when they moved on from the factory workers to the dock workers’ who immediately fought back. The brawl ended up stopping all traffic on the Manhattan Bridge! Nobody died, but the violent riot did have to be broken up by the police and people were sent to jail (not for long though! The ancient Mayan ruins, currently named Ocomtun, were identified in the Balamku ecological reserve, which is more than 50 hectares in size, big enough to hide pyramids that rise some 50 feet into the sky, according to a news release from Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History. The site is believed to have been built and in use sometime around 250-1,000 A.D. and contained a number of large buildings,...

Prisoners are streaming Hollywood hits, curating Spotify-style playlists and getting access to popular video games thanks to an explosion in iPad-style tablets inside institutions across the country. One company alone is providing devices to 600,000 inmates, nearly one-third of estimated 1.9 million people in US jails and prisons. The ubiquitous tablets, which are still growing in popularity, were highlighted by a series of topless pictures of South Carolina murderer Alex Murdaugh, who used the device to make video calls directly from his cell. California – the nation’s second-biggest state correctional department – became the latest this month to complete a...

The nonpartisan Cook Political Report announced Thursday it was shifting its rating of Rep. Lauren Boebert’s (R-Colo.) competitive House district race from “lean Republican” to “toss up.” Cook Political Report editor David Wasserman said the change in the rating comes after recent campaign finance disclosures revealed Boebert’s challenger raised more than three times what Boebert raised in the second quarter. Boebert, a conservative firebrand, faces what was already sure to be a high-stakes rematch with former Aspen City Councilman Adam Frisch, a Democrat who lost to Boebert in 2022 by a mere 546 votes. The close race triggered an automatic...

Abstract GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 are the two most widely used large language model (LLM) services. However, when and how these models are updated over time is opaque. Here, we evaluate the March 2023 and June 2023 versions of GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 on four diverse tasks: 1) solving math problems, 2) answering sensitive/dangerous questions, 3) generating code and 4) visual reasoning. We find that the performance and behavior of both GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 can vary greatly over time. For example, GPT-4 (March 2023) was very good at identifying prime numbers (accuracy 97.6%) but GPT-4 (June 2023) was very poor on these...
