"I mean this with all my heart; please go f--- yourselves SCOTUS," tweeted Josh Gad, while Andy Cohen wrote, "Legalizing discrimination. Incredible." The U.S. Supreme Court made not one, but two controversial, conservative-led rulings regarding LBGTQ rights and student loans on Friday -- and it's safe to say many in Hollywood and beyond are angry with the decisions.

In a new large, comprehensive analysis that looked at data from more than 5 million patients, the Martin/Hopkins method developed by Johns Hopkins researchers to calculate low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol—so-called bad cholesterol—produces higher accuracy rates than the nearly two dozen other available equations. The findings reveal that overall, the Martin/Hopkins algorithm correctly classified 89.6% of patients' LDL cholesterol values, followed by the Sampson method, which correctly classified 86.3%. The previous gold standard of testing LDL cholesterol levels, the Friedewald method, correctly classified 83.2% of patients. An even larger advantage of the Martin/Hopkins algorithm was seen over other methods for patients...

Vietnam has banned Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated film “Barbie” from domestic distribution over a scene featuring a map that shows China’s unilaterally claimed territory in the South China Sea, state media reported on Monday. (Warner Bros’, like CNN, is a unit of Warner Bros. Discovery.) The U-shaped “nine-dash line” is used on Chinese maps to illustrate its claims over vast areas of the South China Sea, including swathes of what Vietnam considers its continental shelf, where it has awarded oil concessions. “Barbie” is the latest movie to be banned in Vietnam for depicting China’s controversial nine-dash line, which was repudiated...

WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court's decision striking down President Joe Biden's program to forgive student loan debt for about 43 million people could hurt not just individual borrowers, but also the U.S. economy, as billions of dollars of consumers' disposable income are taken out of circulation. The ruling could spark a "modest headwind" against economic growth, Bernard Yaros, an economist at Moody's, a financial risk assessment firm, told ABC News. "None of this is enough to tip the economy into a recession," Yaros said. "But this is no doubt a hit." Thomas Simons, an economist with the equity research firm...

Affirmative action was the only reason MSNBC’s Joy Reid attended Harvard, the anchor insisted on Thursday. Reid made the point while appearing on “All In with Chris Hayes” to comment on the US Supreme Court ruling that affirmative action in college admissions violated the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause. While opposing the decision, Reid admitted that she benefited from affirmative action herself. “I got into Harvard only because of affirmative action,” Reid said. “I went to a school no one had ever heard of in Denver, Colorado, in a small suburb. I didn’t go to Exeter or Andover. I didn’t...

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will meet later this week with her Chinese counterparts to talk about major financial issues, making her the second top White House official to travel to the US’ great rival in a matter of weeks. Yellen’s Thursday-Sunday visit is meant to address “areas of concern” in the relationship between the world’s two largest economies as part of President Biden’s government-wide effort to re-engage with China and its president, Xi Jinping, the Treasury Department announced over the weekend. The visit of Yellen, 76, will hopefully “deepen and increase the frequency of communication between our countries moving forward...

While the Leftist-Islamic alliance is cracking elsewhere due to the Left’s determination to normalize gender delusions and fantasies and sexualize children, in France, it has the whole country aflame, and could conceivably bring about the end of the Republic. What is happening now in France was entirely foreseeable, but few dared foresee it, for fear of being called “racist,” “Islamophobic,” and “far right.” Once again those who have been smeared with such terms turn out to have been right all along. The now-nationwide riots started as video spread of an incident that look place last Tuesday, when a 17-year-old Muslim,...

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Biden wore a ceremonial feathered headdress today as he welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an official state visit. "Are we ready to pass around the peace pipe?" asked President Biden. "I'm just kidding — I can't smoke peyote before lunch! It gives me the tummy rumbles! Not a joke!" In preparation for Mr. Modi's visit, President Biden reportedly spent several hours mastering a traditional rain dance. "Are you ready to make it rain, chief?" Biden asked Mr. Modi as he began the dance. "Took me two weeks to get all these tomahawk chop moves...

The White House grounds were evacuated on Sunday due to the discovery of an initially unidentified package. “U.S. Secret Service Uniform Division Officers located an unknown item on the White House complex,” a Secret Service spokesman confirmed. “As a precaution, the White House grounds were evacuated, and the DC Fire Departments Hazmat team responded. Curiously, there hasn’t been a lot of news coverage of this incident. This seems odd because the evacuation of the White House and the response of a Hazmat team seems like a significant story. It’s true that the item was eventually deemed to be “non-hazardous” by...

The Cackling Vice President, Kamala Harris, is the domino that will fall first.Joe Biden is Inspector Jacques Clouseau. We don’t know whether to laugh (Clouseau) or cry (Biden). In fantasy, Clouseau bumbled his way to success. In reality, Biden is a failure; worse, a danger to himself and to others. He is America’s nightmare, more hazardous to the world than climate change. The dark comedy of Biden’s mental decay/physical decline is evidenced daily when his caretakers let him out, after dosing his secret, volatile medication. Sleep apnea, previously undisclosed, is the latest alibi for his dysfunction. His medical records are no more...

(Last Updated On: June 27, 2023) National Fried Clam Day is observed annually on July 3rd. Fried clams are an iconic food in the New England states. Seaside clam shacks or roadside restaurants serve these delectable nuggets and tend to be the primary source for anyone seeking them. The clams are dipped in milk and coated with a combination of regular, corn, and/or pastry flour. Then the coated clams are fried in oil. They can be “clam strips” (sliced parts of hard-shell clams) or whole soft-shell clams. Whole soft-shell clams impart a fuller flavor. However, some restaurants remove the clam’s...

It’s all but official. “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” will put Disney in the red. Again. The fifth and presumably final film in the iconic saga opened to a weak $60 million at the U.S. box office. Those numbers would be withering for most would-be blockbusters, witness fiscal failures like “The Flash” ($55 million) and “Black Adam” ($67 million). “Dial of Destiny” arrives with a bloated $295 million budget (or worse) plus millions in P&A. That means it’ll take a cinematic miracle for “Dial of Destiny” to break even. Let the professional second-guessing begin. Except elite Hollywood news...
