Pray For The Peace of JerusalemLuke 16 The Rich Man and Lazarus 19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up...

The battle between communism and freedom has many chapters, from people jumping The Berlin Wall to Mariel, Cuba in 1980. I saw the ugly face of communism as a boy, when my father's cousin was thrown in jail for publicly denouncing Castro. He was arrested in 1961 and released in 1975. Never had a trial, and forget about anybody reading him his Miranda rights. They don't do that in communist countries. We remember a great moment from the 20th century, or the day that U.S. and U.K. planes began dropping supplies to the people of West Berlin isolated by the...

This week, as accounts of the whistleblowers who blew the lid off the hampered investigations of the President’s crackhead son Hunter were made public, I imagined a writer making a pitch to producers for a dramatic program called Wilmington, a political version, if you will, of Dallas with more than a hint of the Godfather. Clearly, my proposed dramatization covers so much ground, it will have to be serialized. For one thing, there’s a very sordid background to the story. The family has a long history of corruption and drug use unhampered by legal prosecution. Informed by writers like Jonathan...

The world's central bank umbrella body, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), called on Sunday for more interest rate hikes, warning the world economy was now at a crucial point as countries struggle to rein in inflation. Despite the relentless rise in rates over the last 18 months, inflation in many top economies remains stubbornly high, while the jump in borrowing costs triggered the most serious banking collapses since the financial crisis 15 years ago. "The global economy is at a critical juncture. Stern challenges must be addressed," Agustin Carstens, BIS general manager, said in the organisation's annual report published...

U.S. spy agencies picked up intelligence in mid-June indicating Wagner mercenary chief Yevgeniy Prigozhin was planning armed action against the Russian defense establishment — which he has long accused of bungling the war in Ukraine — and urgently informed the White House and other government agencies so they were not caught off guard, several U.S. officials said Saturday. The exact nature and timing of Prigozhin’s plans were not clear until shortly before his stunning takeover of a military command and tank run toward Moscow on Friday and Saturday, officials said. But “there were enough signals to be able to tell...

The Dutch government was successful in seizing farms and now they want to take over private homes too. The Housing Act will allow municipalities to force homeowners to sell their homes ONLY to people with a lower to middle income in the value of the home is less than 355,000€. Research shows that this will drive housing prices UP and cost of rent too. It is a shocking power grab in the year 2023.

In a place not far from Australia – over the ditch we call it – New Zealand Christians are, like the rest of the Western world, coming to grips with the fact that one may lose their livelihood simply by refusing to use someone’s preferred name and pronouns.

June 25th was the date of Custer’s Last Stand when Custer and all the men he commanded were wiped out in the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Alongside the leadership of Crazy Horse, the older wisdom of Sitting Bull was a factor in the Indian victory. Here a few quotes from Sitting Bull: “If we must die, we die defending our rights.” “When I was a boy, the Sioux owned the world. The sun rose and set on their land; they sent ten thousand men to battle. Where are the warriors today?” “It is not necessary for eagles to be...

The Druze in Golan are watching their olive trees be destroyed for the sake of a wind farm... Great Scott! More anti-Israel propagandists who clearly are time travelers, going back in time to 26 years before photography was invented, in order to capture this photo:Yeah, it is not from 1800. And guess what else it is not?

Vladimir Putin has often cut a solitary figure as Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine drags on, but his position is bolstered by a deeply loyal entourage that has hardly changed in years. As commander in chief, ultimate responsibility for the invasion rests with him, but he is reliant on an inner circle, many of whom began their careers in Russia's security services. Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was once a close and powerful ally, but never part of that circle. So who does have the president's ear at this defining moment of the war? For months, two men have been in...

Three Texas police officers have been charged with the murder of a 46-year-old woman who was having a manic episode and was cutting wires to her apartment building's fire alarm system. San Antonio police sergeant Alfred Flores, officer Eleazar Alejandro, and officer Nathaniel Villalobos were the three officers involved in the June 23 incident. The woman, identified as Melissa Petez, was experiencing a mental health crisis around 2am on Friday, officials said. Bodycam footage captured her yelling and at one point holding a hammer. 'It appears Ms. Perez was having a mental health crisis,' the police chief said. The officers...

"Within ten days, the Bidens got $5.1 million from China for absolutely no reason. They got $5.1 million. In fact, they've taken tens of millions of dollars from China. And that's probably why, maybe he's not complaining about the fact that they're building military bases in Cuba. Maybe that's the reason," he claimed. Trump later went on to describe Biden as a "compromised president" and suggested that Biden’s policies were being influenced by past business dealings. "This is truly 100 times bigger than Watergate. This is a much bigger story than Watergate. That's why Biden doesn't mind that China has...

President Biden’s long shot primary rivals increasingly want to debate him in 2024, but those demands are being ignored by the White House and haven’t picked up steam with progressives in Congress. Biden’s two Democratic opponents, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson, have talked openly about the benefits of debating. Third-party candidate Cornel West also said he would “welcome” the chance to go head-to-head with the president, in a text message to The Hill. But the calls have not won support from liberal members of the House and Senate, at least so far. And Democratic strategists say there’s not...

The media took a brief break from its political feeding frenzies to gorge on a generally apolitical tragedy. The story of the OceanGate sub all but took over the airwaves as the media whipped up suspense over the fate of the people on board. The people on board were however dead and had been all along. The Navy was aware of that. So were most experts. Even Titanic director James Cameron weighed in with the obvious. The idea, held up by the media to profit from eyeballs and clicks, that people were sitting somewhere in a stranded sub waiting to...

With graduation less than a month away, many college students in China are still scrambling to find a job.At a free live-stream webinar by a jobseeker training company in mid-June, many of the 800 participants—primarily unemployed 2023 and 2022 graduates—logged eager comments to claim free templates for resumes.“Many of my trainees told me that they live with their parents, who had been scolding them for not trying hard enough to land a job,” the host told the attendees.“I can tell them [parents]: finding a job this year is challenging. It’s the market; it’s not you,” the host added. “Forwarding my...
