Biden allies brush off calls for primary debates
The Hill ^ | 6/24/2023 | Hanna Trudo

President Biden’s long shot primary rivals increasingly want to debate him in 2024, but those demands are being ignored by the White House and haven’t picked up steam with progressives in Congress.

Biden’s two Democratic opponents, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson, have talked openly about the benefits of debating. Third-party candidate Cornel West also said he would “welcome” the chance to go head-to-head with the president, in a text message to The Hill.

But the calls have not won support from liberal members of the House and Senate, at least so far. And Democratic strategists say there’s not much reason to think Biden’s campaign would sign off on a debate — especially given arguments that agreeing to share a stage would only elevate his two marginal opponents.

“Biden should not debate them,” said Jim Kessler, a Democratic operative and executive vice president of policy at the centrist think tank Third Way. “They are both gadflies who have done nothing to earn the right to debate a sitting president in an otherwise uncontested primary.”

“You have to earn your way to the debate stage,” Kessler said. “These folks are light years short of that.”

Keep in mind that the biggest crime in the 2016 election, other than the lies about Trump, was that Hillary’s camp and the DNC honchos went overboard to ensure that Bernie Sanders did not win in the primaries.

Before the election was stolen from Trump in 2020, the Democrat primary was stolen from Sanders in 2016.

Of which, there will never be a willing expose’ by the MSM.

It appears that both Biden and Trump are going to shun their respective party's debates.

If a candidate is too afraid to debate their adversaries in a debate, then they don't have the fortitude to dismantle the deep state.

They don’t want to debate Kennedy.

Of course Trump will debate. He’s just enjoying the opportunity to say that he’s so far ahead of the others that he doesn’t need to lolz. When the time comes, he will not pass up the chance.

Biden is not going to debate in the primaries or the general election. And he will still win.

In 2020, he had to debate because he was a challenger at the time.

Because Kennedy will clean Biden’s clock.

I’ll offer the observation that Kennedy isn’t a four-star debate guy (not just the voice issue), but Joe Biden is at such a low point on answering questions without problems...that RFK does so ‘well’.

I’d also suggest that Dr Jill is the one controlling this decision, and she sees no reason for Joe to risk anything. When we get to October and RFK is polling in ten states at 50-plus percent...her attitude may change.

Finally, if Joe was turned loose on a stage and demonstrated his incompetency...the logical question to ask then, shouldn’t he be removed from office?

This is a long read, but well worth every turn of thought. There are two choices, Trump or Kennedy.

Kennedy may win Iowa and New Hampshire because Biden isn’t on the ballot. They will have to notice that.

Before you get to Super-Tuesday, I think RFK will have won most of the races (maybe 10 points ahead of Biden in each case). Biden has to pull off half of Super-Tuesday as wins, or he’ll admit the public has vacated his position.

Begs the question...why the DNC still waits. They should be looking for an exit point to dump him.

Because they are delusional?

“Begs the question...why the DNC still waits.”

A very good question.

Trump isn’t afraid. He doesn’t want to pledge he will back the winner if he loses
