Special Counsel Jack Smith on Friday asked a federal judge to push back the start of former President Donald Trump’s trial on charges that he willfully retained national security secrets and obstructed justice. In a court filing, Smith requested US District Judge Aileen Cannon to delay the trial by nearly four months — from Aug. 14 to Dec. 11 — arguing that both the prosecution and the defense need more time to prepare. The special counsel noted that the 77-year-old president’s defense team does not object to moving the date. Smith argued that the Aug. 14 date “would deny counsel...

A man arrested in connection with a Father's Day shooting between two cars in crime-riddled San Francisco that went on for about a mile and injured six people is not being charged by San Francisco's district attorney. Brooke Jenkins is not, for the time being, pursuing charges against Lee Alexander Haywood, 33, who was arrested Wednesday in connection with the shooting. Her office cited a need to investigate what they deemed a 'complex' shooting further and left it open that Haywood may face charges in the future. 'This is a complex investigation involving multiple crime scene locations, many witnesses as...

Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged Saturday to defend the country and its people from an armed rebellion declared by Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, describing the call to action as a treasonous decision that puts the country’s survival in peril. In a televised address Saturday morning, Putin said the mutiny amounted to "a deadly threat to our statehood," vowing there will be "tough actions" in response. "All those who prepared the rebellion will suffer inevitable punishment," Putin stated. "The armed forces and other government agencies have received the necessary orders." While he did not call Prigozhin out by name, he...

The worldview of many who attend church is largely shaped by outside influences through a sort of intellectual osmosis. Information comes largely unfiltered through books, magazines, radio, television, social media, and peer groups. Pastors often have limited opportunity to influence the worldview and biblical literacy of the sheep they are attempting to shepherd. For example, the late Gwen Shamblin, who was in over 60,000 churches through her Weigh Down Workshop, was published by Thomas Nelson and promoted by Christian media despite teaching salvation by works and denying the deity of Christ and the Trinity. The Enneagram was birthed in the...

Why it matters: The discussion comes in the wake of Greene taking aim at Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Co.) on the House floor, where Greene called the Colorado Republican a “nasty little b***h” after Boebert introduced competing impeachment resolutions. Two sources said they felt Greene’s behavior was “unprofessional,” with one critic arguing that members are becoming increasingly frustrated with the Georgia conservative for a variety of reasons....

Two IRS whistleblowers allege sweeping misconduct, including interference in the Hunter Biden tax investigation, according to the GOP House Ways and Means Committee chairman and newly released transcripts of congressional interviews with the whistleblowers. Earlier this week, Biden agreed to enter guilty pleas for two misdemeanor tax charges that related to his failure to pay tax on more than $3 million in income. As part of the deal with Delaware U.S Attorney David Weiss — who was appointed by then-President Donald Trump and was kept in the position by the current administration to continue the probe — Biden will avoid...
