ROME—Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Pope Francis to support Kyiv’s formula for peace—based on returning Ukraine’s territory—in a pointed message to the pontiff, who has refused to explicitly condemn Russia’s invasion. The pope, who met with Mr. Zelensky at the Vatican on Saturday, has offered to serve as an intermediary in negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow but his neutral stance, and his suggestions that the West provoked the war, have raised skepticism in Ukraine. ...

Imagine, for a moment, a different scenario in the Jordan Neely case. Let’s say that Neely, a homeless individual and part-time Michael Jackson impersonator with a record of 40-plus arrests, had not been apprehended and put into a choke-hold by 24-year-old Marine vet Daniel Penny on the Manhattan-bound F-train on May 1, 2023. Let’s also imagine that Neely’s mental breakdown rant on that same subway train went from threatening violence – “I’ll hurt anyone on this train” – to actual violence in which he attacked several passengers. Imagine Neely turning on passengers by pushing, shoving, punching and kicking – as...

Editor's Note: This column was co-authored by Jason Hayes.Recently, the Biden administration’s Environmental Protection Agency proposed strict new tailpipe emissions standards. These standards would force fully electric vehicles to jump from 5.8 percent of new car sales in 2021 to 67 percent by 2032. The following list gives 25 reasons why the president’s lofty goals are unwarranted and would be both economically and environmentally harmful.1. America’s electric grid already “faces a capacity shortfall … resulting in high risk of energy emergencies” when energy demand peaks in winter or summer conditions. EVs will further strain our grid unless Americans stop using...

What it is with MSNBC hosts and their proclivity, in racially-charged cases, to recklessly accuse people of "murder?" Back in 2012, we caught Joe Scarborough branding George Zimmerman a "murderer" in the death of Trayvon Martin. Scarborough's accusation came before Zimmerman had even been arrested. And when Zimmerman was ultimately cleared of all charges, Scarborough declined to issue an apology. Today, walking in Scarborough's sordid footsteps, MSNBC host Katie Phang accused Daniel Penny of "murder" in the death of Jordan Neely, the man Penny subdued in an NYC subway who had been acting in an aggressively threatening manner. Get the...

Here we go again; President Joe Biden claims white people are the biggest threat to the U.S. despite making several racist statements during his lifetime. While giving a commencement speech at Howard University, the Historical Black College and University (HBCU) that is the alma mater of Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden condemned “white supremacy,” saying that it is the most dangerous thing the U.S. faces, unlike his lax open border policies, which have caused the country to see skyrocketing overdoses from fentanyl or the high number of sex trafficking cases ravaging us. “Stand up against the poison of white supremacy,”...

Out of the 'woke' indoctrination ovens from studios in Hollywood is a children's computer-animated television show called "Transformers: EarthSpark" that first aired on Paramount+ in November 2022 and has embraced the woke movement. Paramount+ might be digging its grave after the show for young kids appears to have recently promoted gender ideology. "I know I'm safe when I'm with my friends or other non-binary people," a character named Sam said to Transformer Nightshade. Sam also said her pronouns are "she/they."The 1-minute clip tweeted by Libs of TikTok has been viewed 8 million times within 24 hours. Commenting on the clip...

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had private talks with Pope Francis at the Vatican on Saturday, later saying he sought support for Ukraine’s peace plan from the pontiff, who in the past has offered to try to help end the full-scale war launched by Russia a year ago. Zelenskyy held his hand over his heart and said it was a “great honor” to meet with the pope. Francis, using a cane for his knee problem, came to greet the Ukrainian president before ushering him into a papal studio near the Vatican’s audience hall. In a tweet after the 40-minute audience, Zelenskyy...

On Saturday, members of the Patriot Front, a group that leftists have labeled as white supremacist, marched towards the U.S. Capitol. Approximately 150-200 members of the Patriot Front were out in khakis and blue T-shirts again. They were all wearing masks while being escorted with police. The group invested in several flags for today’s march including “Reclaim America.” It would be interesting to discover who paid for the travel, the flags, and the uniforms.

The primary question that Rasmussen asked of likely U.S. voters reads as follows: “If the candidates for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination were Joe Biden, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Marianne Williamson, which candidate would you vote for?” Respondents were split between Kennedy and Biden, with Kennedy receiving 35 percent and Biden, who is already polling at historic lows as of May 2023, receiving just 36 percent. Williamson, meanwhile, captured just six percent of the vote in the poll, which included voters from all political parties.

While people change and learn throughout life, experts recognize that certain formative periods, known as developmental windows, are crucial for acquiring particular skills. For example, using vocalizations and words to interact with people in the first few years of life is critical for children's language learning. A recent study by an international team from UCLA, Romania and Israel suggests there may be a developmental window for reasoning skills as well—the first 25 years of life—and that a person's social, political and economic environment strongly influences how they acquire these skills. Their findings are published in the journal PLOS One. The...

During an interview with Bloomberg on Friday, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen responded to a question on whether she has confidence that no other regional or small banks will fail by stating that she doesn’t want to get into “the situations of individual banks.” But overall, the banking system is in good shape and “banks are going to be able to survive this, but we’re monitoring the situation very, very carefully.” Yellen stated that the banks that have failed “have had some very unique characteristics that have made them vulnerable” and had profiles that are “not very common. But, look, a...

FIFTH WEEK OF LENT John 15:18-21 Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus warns us to expect persecution. But do not be afraid, because in Jesus Christ, we are connected to the very power of God, to that which is here and now creating the universe. No matter how much violence and mayhem is going on, we have a place of safety. How wonderfully Jesus expresses this: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.” The body passes, but the soul, that place where you are in contact with the living God, lasts forever. So...

One ploughed headfirst into the back of a packed city bus. Another ignored yellow police warning tape and became tangled in downed power lines. Yet another 'out-of-control' vehicle moved menacingly towards a police officer while ignoring his frantic command for it to 'stay!'. Welcome to the streets of San Francisco, where the world's biggest experiment in self-driving 'robotaxis' is under way. While Big Tech says this is the future – a world where artificial intelligence (AI) avoids accidents caused by human error – the reality uncovered by The Mail on Sunday offers a glimpse into a future where AI-controlled vehicles...

The editors of Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post are claiming the White House has gotten southern migration under control, with a wide front-page headline saying “At the border, a reset but no surge.” The May 13, editor-placed, five-column headline hides the reality of President Joe Biden’s surge of 83,000 migrants in one week — and it also distracts readers from Biden’s radical decision to ignore Congress while his deputies extract millions of consumers, renters, and workers from poor foreign countries for resettlement in Americans’ neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces.

The U.S. Treasury Department said on Friday that there is only $88 billion in extraordinary measures left for the government to pay its bills as of Wednesday, down from $110 billion a week earlier. As of Wednesday, May 10, the U.S. is said to only have $88 billion left before it reaches the debt ceiling. Just one week earlier, there was said to be $110 billion left, meaning only about a quarter of the $333 billion of authorized measures are left for the government to use before hitting the debt limit.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Saturday that he would close down the southern border to restore order, just days after the lifting of Title 42 has unleashed chaos there — and urged President Biden to “put us in.” “I’d shut down the border immediately — why are we letting this happen? It’s hurting people. You deserve to have a secure border, you deserve to have a rule of law,” the expected 2024 presidential candidate told a packed audience in Sioux Center, Iowa, where he attended Republican Rep. Randy Feenstra’s 3rd annual Family Picnic. “Don’t tell me foreigners can just decide...
