In backrooms and dark corners, airline lobbyists, particularly the Regional Airline Association, are scurrying all over Washington, still trying to undo all the hard work that has been done to make air travel the safest form of transportation in human history. They’re doing this for the usual reasons. They want to try to cheapen pilot training and levels of experience for their own financial gain and expedience. They’re trying to do what is easier and cheaper for them, not what is best for passengers or crews, or for their industry. Once again, it is necessary that those of us who...

As interest rates have risen, many banks have become more profitable because the spreads between what they earn on loans and investments and what they pay for funding has widened. But there are always exceptions. On March 8, SVB Financial Group sold $21 billion in securities for a loss of $1.8 billion. SVB is the holding company for Silicon Valley Bank of Santa Clara, Calif. It had $212 billion in assets as of Dec. 31. The bank said it was repositioning to “increase asset sensitivity, to take advantage of the potential for higher short-term rates, partially lock-in funding costs, better...

Russia’s war was not only made possible by the global fossil fuel addiction; it also helped the largest oil and gas companies reap record profits in 2022. Justice may still be done: a “windfall tax” on this war profit could and should help reconstruct the damage done to Ukraine - if it doesn’t get blocked by oil and gas giant Exxon. The five largest oil and gas companies made bank in 2022, thanks to Russia’s war on Ukraine and the resulting spike in energy prices. Exxon led the pack, with nearly $60 billion in earnings, up over 150% from last year....

Norfolk Southern - the railway company whose train derailed last month in East Palestine, Ohio, contaminating the surrounding area with toxic chemicals - announced Thursday night that it had determined that some of its railcars, of a specific make and model, had loose wheels. During its cleanup of the derailment site, Norfolk Southern investigators discovered that a "specific model and series of railcars had loose wheels," the company said in a news release Thursday night, calling the discovery "an urgent safety issue." The wheels came from "a series of recently acquired cars from a specific manufacturer," Norfolk Southern said. Norfolk...

In the case of sex, the transhumanist Pill revolution didn’t deliver (as the feminist Shulamith Firestone imagined) a polymorphous liberation of human sexuality. Or it did, but under the sign of commerce. We got the so-called “sexual marketplace” in which normative asymmetries in male and female mating preferences reappear in cartoon form, as market opportunities or as strategic weaknesses to be weaponised in a contest for personal gain. Or, straightforwardly, as commodities to buy, sell, or exploit.

Twitter users ridiculed Vice President Kamala Harris after she voiced the concerns of young children dealing with "climate mental health" problems. Harris mentioned the climate change-related issue during her appearance Wednesday at the "Aspen Ideas: Climate Conference" in Miami Beach, Florida. Harris told the crowd in attendance about how she spoke to young climate activists who claim climate change is affecting their mental health. Specifically, the activists told her they were struggling with "climate mental health," she said. Launching into her anecdote, Harris said, "One of the young leaders was talking to me about climate mental health. I said, ‘Tell...

Maj Toure gets straight to the point. “Does anyone have any gun trauma?” he asked. “Anyone have any PTSD with guns before I take mine out?” He stood before three slightly damp people who were shaking their heads no. Two women and a teenage boy had arrived at Toure’s Solutionary Center, a nonprofit focused on combating crime, during a downpour on a Saturday afternoon in December for a private class on guns and the Second Amendment. In 2016, Toure founded Black Guns Matter, a Philadelphia-based gun rights advocacy and education group focused on African Americans that offers free classes on...

I see that 1420’s videos are reposted on Reddit, and those reposts contain cut versions with only negative responses from interviewees. Nobody reposts positive responses because apparently nobody is interested in it! Negative videos usually “sell better” just like the news; while this video has less aggressive people than in the previous videos, my gut feeling tells me, this video will reach less people! Hence, less people will see that there are some sane people. People only need to see babushkas who’re willing to **** everyone, including babies. This comment is a reminder to not use “Russians” with any following...

The former president told Sean Hannity’s radio show:...Mr Trump added: “That’s without even negotiating a deal. I could have negotiated. At worst, I could have made a deal to take over something, you know, there are certain areas that are Russian speaking areas, right, like, but you could have worked a deal. And now Ukraine is just being blown to smithereens.”

Westerners need to get back to basics. It's cheaper. A beautiful woman having fun playing catch with a dog. (Click red link below title above.) Absorbing wisdom of great Americans like Harriett Tubman, who passed away 110 years ago today, March 10. (“If you hear the dogs, keep going. If you see the torches in the woods, keep going. If there’s shouting after you, keep going. Don’t ever stop. Keep going. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going.”) The West does NOT need a president like Biden who coul take U.S. national debt to $51 trillion by 2033:...
