Twitter CEO Elon Musk called GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s party affiliation into question Tuesday after McConnell condemned Fox News for publishing videos recorded in the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, McConnell trashed Fox News’ Tucker Carlson for publishing new footage of the Capitol building from the Jan. 6, 2021 riot that undermined the Democrats’ narrative of a “deadly insurrection.”“With regard to the presentation on Fox News last night, I want to associate myself entirely with the opinion of the chief of the Capitol Police about what happened on January 6th,” McConnell said.Hours...

In his famous 1950 Hillel House lectures, “Jerusalem and Athens,” Leo Strauss laid a vision of what he saw as a fundamental (but complimentary) tension between Jerusalem and Athens or between Scripture and philosophy. While Christian theologians might disagree with Strauss’s approach, and scholars and laymen alike might argue for a more inclusive vision of the sources of Western civilization, Strauss is at least right no note that Western civilization as we know it would be inconceivable without Greek philosophy and the Bible. Indeed, in the contemporary attempt to cancel, modify, and, in some cases, abolish Western civilization, the classics,...

If New Hampshire’s Republican primary were held today, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would win, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu said Sunday. “Right now, if the election were today, Ron DeSantis would win in New Hampshire. There’s no doubt about that in my mind,” Sununu told host Chuck Todd during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” in which he also said that Trump won’t end up the Republican presidential nominee in 2024.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget address Tuesday laid out his vision of policies to prioritize in his proposed $44.4 billion budget, and he made an attempt to unify those listening. “Let’s work together,” he urged House and Senate members who assembled to hear his plan. And, “believe in us,” Shapiro, a Democrat, asked of those who didn’t vote for him. He offered ideas that have potential for bipartisan support such as better funded police and expanding the property tax rent rebate program for seniors and for disabled residents, increasing the maximum rebate from $650 to $1,000 a year and raising...

It is a cruel joke on the nation that McConnell is still the titular leader of Senate Republicans in Washington.Manu Raju is a Democrat activist and CNN reporter who camps out in congressional hallways to ask questions that help advance his party’s political agenda. He’s done it for years. Whether the Democrats are doing their Brett Kavanaugh smear, impeachment shenanigans, Russia-collusion hoax, or anything else, he’s there to ask questions that help his team. He’s been doing it for so long that you’d have to be something of an idiot to fall for it, much less more than once. So, for...

Recently, President Trump urged Republicans to “...become masters of ballot harvesting.” He told an audience at CPAC they need to start harvesting ballots (legally) to counter the harvesting by Democrats. Perhaps I am hung up on semantics, but I think ballot harvesting is awful and usually illegal. What is “Ballot Harvesting”? A harvester is usually an anonymous political operative, or someone paid by a political operative, who rounds up ballots and places them in voter drop boxes or mailboxes -- sometimes after altering them. In other cases he gives the ballots to a political organization, where they are “reviewed” prior...

President Ronald Reagan's audacious "evil empire" speech will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in Washington, D.C. — 40 years to the day after the president issued a call to spiritual confrontation against communist doctrine and the Soviet Union. "Reagan brought clarity, moral clarity to the Cold War with the Soviet Union," said Roger Zakheim, Washington director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, told Fox News Digital. "It’s a lasting legacy speech." Zakheim’s organization is co-sponsoring a 40th anniversary symposium on March 8 hosted by The Victims of Communism Museum to honor the message of the "evil...

The United States is not building enough homes to account for the number of people setting up their own households. As a result, there is a sizable shortage of new homes after more than a decade of under-building relative to population growth, according to a new analysis from Realtor.com released Wednesday. The gap between single-family home constructions and household formations grew to 6.5 million homes between 2012 and 2022. However, this figure overstates the housing shortage, since new multi-family homes offer options both to buyers and renters. If multi-family construction is included — which is predominantly rental units — this...

NBC News contributing “journalist” Simon Moya-Smith, 39, who is also a lecturer at the University of Colorado at Denver, recently put out the following tweet:“Before white people came to this land, there were no jails, no homelessness, no laws against homosexuality or abortion. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples emphasized health, housing, freedom to love who you love and the fact that we need Mother Earth. She doesn’t need us.” Before white people came to this land, there were no jails, no homelessness, no laws against homosexuality or abortion. March 7 (UPI) -- A popular Australian beer is being recalled by regulators for an unusual reason -- it contains "excess alcohol." Food Standards Australia New Zealand said Watermelon Sour Beer from Your Mates Brewing Co. contains "excess alcohol" as a result of a secondary fermentation. The agency said the beer, sold at stores across Queensland and online nationwide, could pose a risk of illness due to its alcohol content. Secondary fermentation is the aging period following the initial fermentation and is sometimes used to remove excess yeast from the beverage. An unintentional second fermentation can produce more alcohol and...

There is little that unites me with those who occupied the Capitol building on Jan. 6. Their vision for America, Christian nationalism, white supremacy, blind support for Trump and embrace of reactionary fact-free conspiracy theories leaves a very wide chasm between their beliefs and mine. But that does not mean I support the judicial lynching against many of those who participated in the Jan. 6 events, a lynching that is mandating years in pretrial detention and prison for misdemeanors. Once rights become privileges, none of us are safe. The U.S. legal system has a very sordid history. It was used...

Michigan’s new Democratic majority in the state Legislature has a climate and energy-related wish list. No need to check it twice.Legislative leaders said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s climate action plan is a blueprint for the next two years. That means renewable energy initiatives, electric vehicle programs, a faster end to burning coal for energy, home improvement and weatherization investment, and energy affordability measures. It may become policy Christmas for climate action advocates and renewable energy proponents. But the holiday was pushed back for bad weather.Mother Nature spoke loudly the last two weeks and lawmakers are adjusting their timetables after multiple ice storms...

The Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Tuesday, 07 March 2023 that it had filed a lawsuit seeking to block JetBlue Airways' $3.8-billion purchase of Spirit Airlines. In a 43-page document, the DOJ alleged the merger would reduce competition among U.S. domestic air-carriers and drive up consumer air-fares. Specifically, the department argued the deal would adversely impact low-income and cost-conscious travelers who depend on budget airlines—like Spirit—to provide bargain air-fares. In their complaint, DOJ lawyers wrote: "If the acquisition is approved, JetBlue plans to abandon Spirit’s business model, remove seats from Spirit’s planes, and charge Spirit’s customers higher prices....

Mysterious January 6 figure Ray Epps lied to the January 6 Committee about when he left the Capitol grounds on the day of the riot, Fox News’s Tucker Carlson argued Monday. Carlson, releasing never seen video footage from January 6, 2021, alleged that Epps misled the January 6 Committee in a sworn testimony. Carlson claimed to have Epps’s text messages that he sent to a relative about leaving the Capitol grounds later than he disclosed to the committee.

President Biden’s approval rating hit its highest point since June, rising to 42 percent, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll. Biden’s approval rating improved slightly from February, when it was recorded at 41 percent, and improved significantly from last summer when it was hovering as low as 36 percent, the poll released Wednesday found. The survey also found that 81 percent of Democrats support Biden’s student loan forgiveness program, which the Supreme Court heard oral arguments on last week. Only 29 percent of Republicans approved of the program, the poll found. The poll also found that 84 percent of Republicans...

Podcaster Joe Rogan labeled President Joe Biden as mentally "gone" and said he would vote for former president Donald Trump rather than Biden. During an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan spoke with British standup comedian Russell Brand about the Biden administration, noting that officials have been chosen for their identities rather than their experience. Rogan explained why he won't vote for Biden in 2024, labeling the president's Cabinet as a "sideshow of diversity." "I would vote for Trump before I'd vote for Biden. Just 'cause I think with Biden, like, he's gone. Like, you know, he's gone. You're...
