On this date in 1942, three captured American airmen who had bombed Japan in the Doolittle Raid were shot in Tokyo. The Doolittle Raid — named for its commander, Jimmy Doolittle — was America’s April 1942 retaliation for the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor a few months before. The mission: bomb the Japanese homeland. Later in the war, American advances in the Pacific would enable the Yankee to do this regularly. In 1942, it was all but a suicide mission. The plan involved launching 16 B-25s from an aircraft carrier — an unprecedented feat in itself — to fly light...

Ontario’s top doctor fears rising COVID-19 cases and the approach of winter could further jeopardize the province’s struggling health-care system, forcing the Ford government to potentially re-implement a mandatory masking policy if the situation worsens. In an interview with Global News, Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario’s medical officer of health, urged people to get vaccines, boosters and wear a mask to avoid an unmanageable surge in hospital admissions. He said the rate of uptake for fourth doses by Ontarians aged 70 and older — around 16 per cent — was “not acceptable” and said public health measures like mandatory masking could...

“The Inflation Reduction Act has to do with your ability to get tax credits for buying — if you need a new coffee machine, a new washer, a new refrigerator,” Biden said. “And you buy an efficient refrigerator, efficient coffee machine, you get a tax credit for it.” Earlier in the speech, Biden appeared to blank on the name of Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden — calling him “THAT OTHER GUY I just talked about in the Senate” — just moments after warmly thanking the Democrat for helping to get the bill passed.

This time, the incident occurred on Saturday’s The Cross Connection as host Tiffany Cross and Prof. Tanya Hernandez reacted to the Los Angeles City Council racism scandal by lamenting that some Latinos try to be and are “white.” Cross declared that, “I’ve grown up in communities where the Latino community was very adjacent, and, you know, a lot of shared experiences. And, it does tend to, the common ground here is...

Oregon is typically known as a bastion of West Coast liberalism, where Democrats are easily elected and a Republican hasn’t served as governor since the early 1980s. But with an unusually competitive three-way contest for governor, the Democratic candidate’s success is hardly a guarantee this year. As mail-in ballots become available to voters next week, Oregon is becoming the unlikely site of one of the most competitive governor’s races in the country. The main reason for the race’s unpredictability is Betsy Johnson, a longtime former Democratic lawmaker with a fondness for salty language who is aiming to become the first...

https://www.newsweek.com/tulsi-gabbards-dem-decision-fuels-speculation-shes-trumps-vp-choice-1750971 -- Former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard's decision to leave the Democratic Party has some wondering whether she could be former President Donald Trump's future running mate. Gabbard announced on Tuesday in a video shared to social media that she was no longer a Democrat, and said the party was being led by "an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness" who promote "anti-white racism." She went on to say that she was leaving the party to become an Independent in part because she believed Democrats were bringing the world "ever closer to nuclear war." -- Very interesting. Trump himself,...

Cartels mutilate, cut throats, torture, off fingersAttacks against priests in Mexico have risen to an unbearable level. Organized criminals have turned to hunting down and maiming parish clergy to rise up the ranks of drug cartels and shut out the pastoral work they do in their communities. At least 70 priests have been killed — officially recognized — in recent decades, which makes Mexico the most dangerous country in the world to be a priest. The Centro Católico Multimedial keeps track of murdered priests (diocesan and religious) from 1990 to this year. In addition to murders, desecrations of temples have...

TUCKER CARLSON: The Democratic Party is replacing parents w In your head, you at all times think about the revolution when it begins. It will begin with tanks and gunfire with chaos and troopers on the street. You will know when it comes, however it by no means does. As an alternative, the actually massive modifications to American life, the profound ones that have an effect on all of us without end, these modifications virtually at all times start quietly with mild pleas for tolerance. We might love to do issues a little bit otherwise, they inform you. We might...
